Efecto de los artes de pesca sobre el tamaño de los peces en una pesquería artesanal del Caribe colombiano. OceanDocs

Como apoyo fundamental para el diseño de un sistema de manejo en la pesquería de la Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta y Complejo de Pajarales (CGSM-CP), se evaluaron los efectos de los artes de pesca más usados sobre las cinco principales especies de la pesquería: mapalé (Cathorops mapale), mojarra rayada (Eugerres plumieri), chivo cabezón (Ariopsis sp.), lisa (Mugil incilis) y mojarra lora (Oreochromis niloticus). Para tal fin se utilizaron frecuencias de longitudes de los peces en 1994-1996 y 2000-2004, medidas a partir de capturas comerciales con los siguientes artes de pesca: atarraya, boliche, chinchorro, palangre y trasmallo. El efecto de cada arte se midió a partir de la comparación de la talla media de captura (TMC) con la talla media de madurez...

Women in Agro-processing in Ghana: A case Study of the State of Women in Small-scale Fish Processing in the Central Region of Ghana. OceanDocs

The role of women in food production, processing and marketing has become more relevant as a way of fighting poverty and ensuring food security in Africa. This study was undertaken to assess the state of women in small-scale fish smoking in the Central Region of Ghana. The study involved 150 women fish processors. Descriptive and correlational statistics were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that the women fish processors were mainly full-time fish processors with a minimum of 10 years experience in fish processing. The women fish processors were generally poor income earners with great responsibility of catering for a large number of dependents. There is a global trend towards intensification of aquaculture-based systems, however a large portion of world production from aquaculture is still in small-scale "rural type" and extensive systems. The term “rural aquaculture” has been used to distinguish, from other production systems, the culture of aquatic organisms by families through extensive or semiintensive systems, for home consumption or partial marketing. l'Aquacuulture dans sa composante pisciculture à fait l'objet de plusieurs expérimentations dans la vallée du fleuve Sénégal par le biais de projet de production ce dernier n'a pas donné de résultats escomptés. L'Aménagement de la vallée à induit des disponibilités en terre et eau qui offre à l'aquaculture les possibilités d'un developpement durable notamment la pisciculture et crevetticulture.
