Neues Projekt zur Bekämpfung von Nachbauproblemen Organic Eprints

Neben Bodenverdichtungen und der Nährstoffauslaugung im Boden gibt es beim mehrmaligen Nachbau von gleichen Kulturen – wie z. B. Apfel nach Apfel – ein Problem, das biologische Ursachen hat. Man spricht dabei von der Nachbaukrankheit (Apple replant disease; ARD). Die Erreger sind dabei schwer eingrenzbar,sehr wahrscheinlich kommt es zu einem Ungleichgewicht im Boden zu Gunsten von pathogenen Mikroorganismen.

In this webinar Rex Dufour, National Center for Appropriate Technology, discusses basic principles and practices for managing pests, focusing on the role of healthy soils in controlling pests, the importance of biodiversity and habitats for beneficial insects. Pest management in organic production systems is reliant on many factors – “small hammers” - working together. This is accomplished by supporting the system’s ecology, both above and below ground. The webinar is targeted both to newcomers and experienced organic farmers. Webinar contents are based on experiences made in the United States but concepts and hints can be applied in other countries.

Importance of cover crops in alleviating negative effects of reduced soil tillage and promoting soil fertility in a winter wheat cropping system Organic Eprints

Reduction of soil tillage is of paramount importance for agricultural soil preservation. However, it is often accompanied by yield reduction and weed management problems. In this perspective, cover crops could play an important role to alleviate weed infestation and sustain yield. In this study, the results from a three-year experiment of cover crop cultivation in different soil tillage treatments is presented, together with results from DayCent simulations on the long term evolution of soil organic carbon and total nitrogen. El fosfonato potasico en la agricultura ecologica Organic Eprints

La posible utilizacíon del fosfonato potásico como fungicida en agricultura ecológica (AE) está actualmente en debate. En este artículo se describen los proncipales argumentos a favor y en contra de su utilizacíon en AE. El fosfonato potásico es un fungicida con impacto ambiental o en la salud humana despreciables, y su aplicación podría reducir las necesidad de cobre, especialmente en el vinedo. Sin embargo, es sintético, tiene un modo de actuacíon sistémico y deja un residuo detectable.
