Fuel consumption of some tractor models for ploughing operations in the sandy-loam soil of Nigeria at various speeds and ploughing depths CIGR Journal

Tractors acquired in Oyo State-Nigeria are primarily utilized for ploughing operations which represents the most costly single item in the budget of an arable farmer.  Tractor fuel consumption constitutes a significant parameter that affects tractors performances for ploughing operations.  The effect of ploughing speed and depth on tractors fuel consumption was therefore examined in a bid to establish their optimum operating conditions.  The soil characteristics of the study site were determined using laboratory tests.  Ploughing operations, using ASABE standard D497.5, were carried out on 100×500 m research farmland using Massey Ferguson (MF 435, 100 hp), Fiat (F130D, 100 hp) and Steyr(CVT170, 100 hp) tractors that were purchased in 2009.  Field...

A eficiencia de uma fonte de fosforo esta relacionada as suas caracteristicas, mas tambem depende do tipo de solo e do comportamento da especie vegetal. Os fosfatos naturais brasileiros so de baixa solubilidade e de dissolucao lenta. A eficiencia agronomica inicial e baixa, aumentando com o passar do tempo. A decisao sobre a viabilidade do uso dos fosfatos naturais brasileiros para pastagens nao pode ser generalizada; contudo, os resultados experimentais mostram que a utilizacao dessas fontes torna-se viavel desde que a estrategia de manejo seja adequada. Nesse aspecto, merecem destaque a escolha da especie forrageira, da dose e do modo de aplicacao do fosfato, do tipo de solo e da relacao de precos da unidade de fosforo total na forma de fosfato natural...

ABSTRACT Soil moisture estimation is very important in decision making regarding agricultural practices and investigations in hydrology. The aim of the study was to evaluate surface soil moisture temporal stability under two cover crop conditions in an experimental watershed in the Brazilian semi-arid region, aiming to identify stable points, thus reducing monitoring costs and highlighting the importance of temporal stability in a watershed. ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the use of hydro polymer retainer in the quantitative growth of coffee plants at different levels of irrigation and soil types.
