ABSTRACT The integration of fish farming in intensive system and plant production, called "aquaponics" is practiced successfully in countries like the USA, Australia and Europe. In Brazil, this integration has attracted the attention of researchers and producers. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of two substrates (crushed stone number 3, CS III and flexible polyurethane foam, FPF) on the production of aquaponic lettuce, moreover, to show that the residual water from intensive tilapia production provides sufficient qualitative characteristics for competitive production of lettuce without adding commercial fertilizers. Volume of cells on trays influences hydroponic lettuce production Horticultura Brasileira

ABSTRACT Lettuce seedlings used on hydroponic cultivation (NFT) are usually produced in trays with small volume, requiring two transplants: from tray to nursery and then to the definitive place. The aim of this study was to verify lettuce performance under NFT system, using seedlings produced in trays with several cell volumes (50, 40, 35, 31, 30, 29, 27, 20 and 10 cm³ cell-1). The tray volumes are considered treatments. The experimental design was completely randomized blocks, with four replicates. ABSTRACT This study had as objective to evaluate the effect of the substrate on the yield of lettuce grown in aquaponic and hydroponic systems. The study was conducted at the Federal University of Grande Dourados, located in Dourados, MS. A randomized complete block design was used, with three treatments and 16 replicates. The cultivation systems were analyzed independently. The substrates analyzed were: coconut shell fiber, phenolic foam and expanded vermiculite. The plants were grown in two systems (aquaponic and hydroponic), using the NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) system. The crop used was lettuce cv. ‘Alcione’. Growth, production and water consumption of coriander in hydroponic system using brackish waters AGRIAMBI

ABSTRACT An experiment was carried out in an adapted DFT (deep film technique) hydroponic system in PVC pipes to evaluate the growth, production and water consumption of coriander cv. ‘Verdão’, during June-July 2014. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design with five replicates, in a 2 x 4 factorial scheme, totaling 40 plots. Two intervals of nutrient solution recirculation (0.25 and 2 h) and four levels of water electrical conductivity (ECw 0.26, 2.47, 4.91 and 7.0 dS m-1) were evaluated. ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth and accumulation of ions in lettuce grown in different hydroponic systems and recirculation frequencies. The experimental design was randomized blocks with 8 treatments and 4 replicates. The evaluated hydroponic systems were Nutrient Flow Technique (NFT) and an adapted Deep Flow Technique (DFT), the latter with recirculation frequencies of 0.25, 2 and 4 h. Both systems used fresh water and brackish water. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da transpiração do tomateiro na fração lixiviada e na condutividade elétrica (CE) da solução nutritiva percolada no substrato de areia, em cultivo realizado sob condições de casa-de-vegetação. Foram utilizadas duas técnicas de fertirrigação, sendo uma denominada de sistema de controle convencional e outra, de sistema de controle computadorizado. No sistema de controle convencional, a solução nutritiva foi aplicada em intervalos de tempo fixos entre eventos de fertirrigação.
