CARACTERIZAÇÃO MICROMETEOROLÓGICA DE AMBIENTES PROTEGIDOS PARA A PRODUÇÃO VEGETAL 196
Silva, Abimael Gomes da; Costa, Edilson; Zoz, Tiago; Binotti, Flávio Ferreira da Silva.
This study evaluates the influence of the four seasons and twelve months of the year on the micrometeorological variables of global solar radiation, air temperature, and relative air humidity in different protected environments for plant production. The protected environment types and the characteristics of the shade screen modify the indoor air temperature. This environment provides greater relative humidity. The global solar radiation percentages in the environments were: full sun (100%); black screen with 30% shading (47.3%); greenhouse with LDPE + 22-30% shading screen under the film (38.1%); aluminized screen with 35% shading (36.9%) and greenhouse with LDPE + 42-50% shading screen under the film (26.9%). The micrometeorological conditions of...

Estimation methods of reference evapotranspiration (ETo) for Uberlândia -MG REA
LACERDA,ZILDA C. DE; TURCO,JOSÉ E. P..
One approach to verify the adequacy of estimation methods of reference evapotranspiration is the comparison with the Penman-Monteith method, recommended by the United Nations of Food and Agriculture Organization - FAO, as the standard method for estimating ET0. This study aimed to compare methods for estimating ET0, Makkink (MK), Hargreaves (HG) and Solar Radiation (RS), with Penman-Monteith (PM). For this purpose, we used daily data of global solar radiation, air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed for the year 2010, obtained through the automatic meteorological station, with latitude 18° 91' 66" S, longitude 48° 25' 05" W and altitude of 869m, at the National Institute of Meteorology situated in the Campus of Federal University of Uberlandia -...

TOPOGRAPHYC SHADOW INFLUENCE ON OPTICAL IMAGE ACQUIRED BY SATELLITE IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE REA
França,Michelle M.; Fernandes Filho,Elpidio I.; Ferreira,Williams P. M.; Lani,João L.; Soares,Vicente P..
ABSTRACT During image acquisition, is usually chosen scenes with a lesser cloud cover to avoid loss of spectral information. However, when training samples are collected for image classification, the user finds shadowed areas. Such situation is similar to the presence of clouds since spectral information of these classes is the same in all optical bands of the sensor. This fact becomes more pronounced in mountainous relief areas due to shadow projection on the terrain, which can vary among all seasons during the solar year. With the goal to obtain images with a lower presence of shadow, it was simulated, under the same relief conditions, shading variation in function of latitude (0° to 40° S). Solar radiation models were processed for the days and times...

Simulated seasonal and interannual variability of the mixed layer heat budget in the northern Indian Ocean ArchiMer
De Boyer Montegut, Clement; Vialard, Jerome; Shenoi, S. S. C.; Shankar, D.; Durand, Fabien; Ethe, Christian; Madec, Gurvan.
A global ocean general circulation model (OGCM) is used to investigate the mixed layer heat budget of the northern Indian Ocean (NIO). The model is validated against observations and shows fairly good agreement with mixed layer depth data in the NIO. The NIO has been separated into three subbasins: the western Arabian Sea (AS), the eastern AS, and the Bay of Bengal (BoB). This study reveals strong differences between the western and eastern AS heat budget, while the latter basin has similarities with the BoB. Interesting new results on seasonal time scales are shown. The penetration of solar heat flux needs to be taken into account for two reasons. First, an average of 28 W m(-2) is lost beneath the mixed layer over the year. Second, the penetration of...

Shore-level size gradients and thermal refuge use in the predatory sea star Pisaster ochraceus: the role of environmental stressors ArchiMer
Monaco, Cristian; Wethey, David S.; Gulledge, Shadow; Helmuth, Brian.
The body size of a mobile intertidal invertebrate can determine its access to different microhabitats, and thus alter its exposure to environmental stressors. We surveyed a rocky intertidal keystone predator, the sea star Pisaster ochraceus, and characterized size-dependent distribution, defined by individuals' shore level and refuge use. At 2 field sites (in California and Oregon, USA) we examined temporal and geographical variability in habitat selection. We evaluated the hypothesis that environmental drivers measured on-site and body temperatures measured using biomimetic sensors (i.e. 'robo-sea stars'), explained the observed distribution patterns, including shore-level size gradients, with larger animals lower on the shore. We tested the effect of...

Albedo and estimates of net radiation for green beans under polyethylene cover and field conditions PAB
Souza,José Leonaldo de; Escobedo,João Francisco; Tornero,Maria Terezinha Trovareli.
This paper describes the albedo (r) and estimates of net radiation and global solar irradiance for green beans crop (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), cultivated in greenhouse with cover of polyethylene and field conditions, in Botucatu, SP, Brazil (22º 54' S; 48º 27' W; 850 m). The solar global irradiance (Rg) and solar reflected radiation (Rr) were used to estimate the albedo through the ratio between Rr and Rg. The diurnal curves of albedo were obtained for days with clear sky and partially cloudy conditions, for different phenological stages of the crop. The albedo ranged with the solar elevation, the environment and the phenological stages. The cloudiness range have almost no influence on the albedo diurnal amount. The estimation of radiation were made by...

Partitioning of Competition for Resources Between Soybean and Corn as Competitor Plant Planta Daninha
CARATTI,F.C.; LAMEGO,F.P.; SILVA,J.D.G.; GARCIA,J.R.; AGOSTINETTO,D..
ABSTRACT Plants compete for resources present below and above the soil surface. The objective of this work was to separate the individual effects of the competition for resources between soybean and corn as competitor plants. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, in 2014/2015. The treatments consisted of soybean cultivars (TEC 5718 and TEC 6029) in competition conditions with corn (no competition, competition for soil resources, competition for solar radiation and total competition). The variables evaluated were plant height at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days after emergence (DAE), stem/culm diameter, leaf area, shoot dry mass, root dry mass and the chlorophyll index, at 42 (DAE). The competition for soil resources between soybean and corn is...

Rice root growth and development in competition with weedy rice Planta Daninha
E. Schaedler,Carlos; U.M. Taborda,Célio; A.P. Goulart,Francisco; M. Chiapinotto,Diego; Pinho,Paulo J..
Abstract Background: Weedy rice belongs to the same taxon as irrigated rice (Oryza sativa L.), and is the main weed of the crop. However, it exhibits different traits that produce greater competitive capacity using solar radiation. In competition for light, plants invest in photoassimilates for the shoots and can reduce their root development. Objectives: The objective of this work is to evaluate the initial growth of weedy and cultivated rice roots in response to light competition. Methods: The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse (hydroponic system), using a completely randomized design, arranged in a 2x2x6 factorial scheme, with five replications. Factor A consisted of the weedy rice biotype Q35B and the rice cultivar IRGA 424; factor B of...
