Seed morphology of 50 local rice varieties in the southern Thailand was studied in length, width, 100 seed weight, colour, and hair of husked seed and length, width, length/width ratio, shape and colour of dehusked seed. Five rice varieties of central Thailand were used as an outgroup. There is variation in all characters measured except the hair of husked seed and colour of dehusked seed. Husked seed width and dehusked seed width and length/width ratio have normal distribution. Dendrogram showing the relationship among rice varieties will be presented in the meeting. |
