In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of sea bream (Sparus aurata) marinated some quality properties during cold storage. The fillets of fish were immersed into brine including 3.5% acetic acid 11% salt in the ratio of 1: 1.5 (fish: marinate brine) for marination process. After the process of ripening, samples were grouped into two and packed in plastic containers; one being plain (in sunflower oil) and the other being sauced (sauced prepared with sunflower oil). During storage, sensory, crude protein, lipid, dry matter and crude ash, TBA, TVB-N, TMA-N and peroxide analyses were done periodically. Recent advances have led to the development of inert diets for first-feeding marine fish larvae. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate fatty acid (FA) incorporation into larva using practical-type and semipurified diets as first food for larvae. Experimental microparticulate diets were fed to gilthead sea bream larvae, right from the mouth opening to day 21 post hatching. Five basal diets were compared, using fish meat or casein as main protein sources, and fish protein concentrate or casein hydrolysates and algae powder (Schizochytrium). The common dentex (Dentex dentex) is a sparid fish which is considered a suitable candidate for Mediterranean aquaculture. A seven-weeks feeding trial was conducted over the summer period with common dentex, sea bream (Sparus aurata) and sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax). All three species were fed to visual satiety with two practical diets with varying crude protein and crude fat levels (55 % protein, 9 % lipids; 46 % protein, 17 % lipids). A condition in Sparus aurata larvae termed "distended gut syndrome" (DGS) has become a major problem in the past three seasons. Unable to digest rotifers and brine shrimp nauplii, the larvae develop a swollen abdomen, exhibit a disoriented spinning motion and are swept passively with the current. Bacterial or viral infections were suspected. Chloramphenicol-supplemented larval food did not affect the prevalence of DGS. Depuis 1988, d'importantes mortalités de palourdes japonaises Ruditapes philippinarum ont été enregistrées, sur de nombreux élevages, dans le bassin d'Arcachon. Pour expliquer celles-ci, l'hypothèse d'une prédation par la dorade royale Sparus aurata et par le baliste Balistes capriscus était avancée. Afin de la vérifier, une étude expérimentale de la prédation de la palourde par ces deux poissons a été réalisée en laboratoire. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of dietary phospholipid (PL) levels on survival and development of first feeding gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) larvae. Larvae were fed from day 4 to 23 posthatching with an isoproteic and isolipidic formulated diet with graded levels of PL from 90-150 g kg(-1) dry matter (DM). A dietary PL content of more than 90 g kg(-1) DM seems to be necessary for sustaining growth of first feeding sea bream larvae. The nuclear DNA content in Dicentrarchus labrax, Sparus aurata, Liza ramada, and Anguilla anguilla, was measured by flow cytometric analysis. Male human leukocytes were used as internal reference cells. Nucleated fish erythrocytes were stained simultaneously to human leukocytes with a staining buffer containing propidium iodide (PI).
