En México, existen algunas variedades seleccionadas de amaranto (A. hypochondriacus) para las zonas templadas como la Línea 1, Mercado, Nepal, Azteca y Mexicano, así como algunas razas criollas como la Tulyehualco y la Mixteca, que por sus características agronómicas y potencial de rendimiento son de las más importantes. El aprovechamiento del amaranto es integral por utilizarse el grano y la planta como verdura y forraje. Abstract The populations of wild chili pepper (Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum) are a genetic valuable resource and the knowledge of the germinative ability, is of great importance for its management and conservation. The effects of the temperature on germination of wild chili grown in two environment of light, and the relation with the weight of 100 seeds of five populations of wild chili of the Northwest of Mexico, were recorded. The mother plants grown in greenhouse conditions with 50 and 100 % of solar light. Characterization of onion (Allium cepa L.) varieties based on physical properties and seed performance Agrociencia

Abstract: Five cultivars (Cristal White Wax, Toro, Red Burgundy, Cojumatlán and Contessa) of onion (Allium cepa L.) were characterized according to: the weight of 100 seeds, germination kinetics, speed germination (T50) and seed protein analysis. Seed of Crystal White Wax was differentiated from the other cultivars by its low weight (0.30 g), since the weight of the rest was 0.40 g. Crystal White Wax had low seed germination (56%) and the highest delay of germination (T50 values were 78 h), while T50 of the rest was 52 h. Protein was isolated from seeds at the precise moment of seed germination. All cultivars were differentiated by their pattern and number of proteins resolved by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis.
