Types and originals of fossil Porifera and Cnidaria of Indonesia in Naturalis Naturalis
Leloux, J.; Renema, W..
The collection of Naturalis contains a significant collection of fossil corals and sponges. Within the framework of the 'NWO Groot' digitalisation projects the typespecimens, mainly from Indonesia, of Gerth, Umbgrove and related researchers were catalogued. 3920 lots containing 3479 typespecimens related to 676 taxa are concerned.

Re-evaluation of the Cancridae Latreille, 1802 (Decapoda: Brachyura) including three new genera and three new species Naturalis
Schweitzer, Carrie E.; Feldmann, Rodney M..
New fossils referable to the Cancridae Latreille, 1802 extend the known stratigraphic range of the family into the middle Eocene and the geographic range into South America. Each genus within the family has been reevaluated within the context of the new material. A suite of diagnostic characters for each cancrid genus makes it possible to assign both extant and fossil specimens to genera and the two cancrid subfamilies, the Cancrinae Latreille, 1802, and Lobocarcininae Beurlen, 1930, based solely upon dorsal carapace morphology. Cheliped morphology is useful in assigning genera to the family but is significantly less useful at the subfamily and generic level. Each of the four subgenera sensu Nations (1975), Cancer Linnaeus, 1758, Glebocarcinus Nations,...

Systematic revision of the Phorusrhacidae (Aves: Ralliformes) Pap. Avulsos de Zool. (São Paulo)
Alvarenga,Herculano M.F.; Höfling,Elizabeth.
Fossil remains of birds belonging to the family Phorusrhacidae were studied in several museums of South America, North America and Europe, the main objective being to characterize this family and solve the chaotic state of the nomenclature and classification of these birds. Reconstruction of some species has been done, with the purpose of having an idea about the size, body weight, posture and habit based in their skeletons. The European species, Ameghinornis minor and Aenigmavis sapea are refuted as belonging to this family. Also several forms described from the Tertiary of Argentina are refuted, because they are based on inadequate segments of the skeleton for a good identification, as is the case of the genera Cunampaia, Smiliornis, Pseudolarus,...

Palynomorph assemblages of the Cuayuca Formation (Paleogene), Puebla, southern Mexico. Part 1: trilete spores, monolete spores and gymnosperm pollen Ameghiniana
Ramírez-Arriaga,Elia; Martínez-Hernández,Enrique; Prámparo,Mercedes B..
This publication presents the systematics of monolete and trilete spores, and polyplicate, inaperturate and bisaccate pollen grains recovered from outcrops of the Cuayuca Formation, State of Puebla, southern Mexico. Species belonging to the following genera are described and illustrated: Cicatricosisporites, Deltoidospora, Foveotriletes, Leptolepidites, Lusatisporis, Retitriletes, Stereigranisporis, Verrucingulatisporites, Polypodiisporites, Pinuspollenites, Pityosporites, Ephedripites , and Cupressacites . Pteridophytes and bryophytes spores constitute 13.5% of the assemblages and gymnosperms 7.3%. Angiosperms, to be discussed on later papers, dominate the assemblage.

The Barreiras Group in the Northeastern coast of the State of Bahia, Brazil: depositional mechanisms and processes Anais da ABC (AABC)
VILAS BÔAS,GERALDO S.; SAMPAIO,FLÁVIO J.; PEREIRA,ANTONIO M. S..
The Barreiras Group is a Miocene to Lower Pleistocene continental terrigenous sedimentary deposit exhibiting a large occurrence along the Brazilian coast. In the Conde region, located in the northeastern part of the State of Bahia, the sedimentological characteristics of these sediments are indicative of a deposition as gravelly and sandy bed load in braided fluvial systems, related to alluvial fans, under an arid to semi-arid climate. The basal portion of the group is dominated by a gravelly-sandy lithofacies deposited by debris flows and pseudoplastic debris flows, with lesser occurrences of subaqueous deposits, characterizing a proximal fluvial system deposition. The upper portion is made up of gravelly-sandy sediments that include subaqueous, debris...
