Comparison and correlation analysis of flavonoids and chlorogenic acid contents in different strains of Acer truncatum Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
REN,Hongjian; FENG,Zhen.
Abstract The morphological characteristics, total flavonoid content (TFC) and chlorogenic acid (CGA) contents of leaves from different strains of Acer truncatum were analyzed with the goal of providing guidance for the development and utilization of Acer truncatum leaves (ATLs) and a selection system for the medicinal cultivar of Acer truncatum species. The morphological characteristics of the ATLs were determined using conventional methods, and TFC and CGA were used to determine the ATL extract by UV spectrophotometry and HPLC. The results showed that most traits significantly differed among the ATL morphologies of different strains and that considerable variability was found between different strains in both TFC (15.04 to 35.18 mg/g) and CGA (0.17 to...

Extraction yield, antioxidant activity andphenolics from grape, mango and peanut agro-industrial by-products Ciência Rural
Braga,Gilberto Costa; Melo,Priscilla Siqueira; Bergamaschi,Keityane Boone; Tiveron,Ana Paula; Massarioli,Adna Prado; Alencar,Severino Matias de.
ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to determine and correlate the extraction yields, antioxidant activity, total phenolics and total flavonoids from grape, mango and peanut agro-industrial by-products. The β-carotene/linoleic acid autoxidation system and scavenging capacity for DPPH and ABTS free radicals assays were used. The results were expressed in terms of lyophilized sample or dry extract. Mango bagasse exhibited the highest extraction yield (37.07%) followed by peanut skin (15.17%) and grape marc (7.92%). In terms of lyophilized sample, total phenolics did not vary significantly among the residues evaluated (average of 60.33mg EAG g-1); however, when they were expressed as dry extract grape marc exhibited the highest total phenolic...

Salicylic acid on antioxidant activity and betacyan in production from leaves of Alternanthera tenella Ciência Rural
Rodrigues-Brandão,Isabel; Kleinowski,Alítcia Moraes; Einhardt,Andersom Millech; Lima,Milene Conceição; Amarante,Luciano do; Peters,José Antonio; Braga,Eugenia Jacira Bolacel.
This research investigates effects of salicylic acid (an abiotic elicitor) on the antioxidant activity and betacyan production from leaves of Alternanthera tenella cultured in vitro was evaluated. Plants were grown in a liquid MS medium and vermiculite substrate. After 35 days salicylic acid was added to the medium. Content of betacyanins, total phenols and flavonoids and non-enzymatic antioxidant capacity were determined in leaves of A. tenella after 0, 12, 36 and 48h of treatment. After 36h, concentration of betacyanins and total phenols increased. On the other hand, the increase of the treatment time caused a slight decrease in total flavonoids and reduced the DPPH free radical activity. As result the antioxidant activity of the leaves of A. tenella is...
