ABSTRACT For safety reasons, wood strength values, essential for structural dimensioning, are calculated based on the characteristic value, which corresponds to the 5% percentile of a given probability distribution model. For small samples, the Brazilian normative document ABNT NBR 7190 establishes an estimator of the characteristic wood strength, which can provide a significantly different result from the characteristic value coming from a suitable model of probability distribution. Faced with the need to exploit off-shore oil fields at ever increasing depths, lighter replacements are being considered for the standard steel cable mooring systems used for platforms. This study considers the mechanical behaviour of synthetic ropes made of two different materials: PET and PEN. The first is already used in ropes to replace steel, and the second could be a potential competitor. A multi-scale study, involving mechanical tests (mainly tensile, creep and cyclic loading) has been carried out on assemblies of various sizes, from ropes of several hundreds kN breaking load to their smallest components: filaments. ラグ3面用測定装置による外力測定と作用特性の検証 OAK

農用車輪ラグの運動シミュレーションより得られた, ラグを構成する“前方ラグ面”,“外周ラグ面”および“後方ラグ面”の作用特性の解析結果を実験により検証した。これらの3面に作用する外力を測定するために, ラグ3面用小型トランスデューサを供試して法線方向力と接線方向力を各面別に独立して測定し, この2分力から車輪回転角や供試ラグの角度要素を用いて各面に作用する推進力, 転がり抵抗, 接地荷重反力を求めた。この結果, 前方ラグ面は転がり抵抗と接地荷重反力, 外周ラグ面は転がり抵抗, 接地荷重反力さらに推進力, また, 後方ラグ面は推進力と接地荷重反力を発生しており, 運動解析より得られた結果と一致した。 This research proves the results of the motion analyses of interactions between soil and wheel lug surfaces. Computer simulation of stability and control of tractor-trailed implement combinations under different operating conditions Bragantia

The mechanics of a tractor-trailer system moving up and down sloping ground under different operating conditions was theoretically simulated. A computer program was developed to analyze the system to predict the effect of both the trailer loading weight and the slope angle on the tractor stability, traction ability, and drawbar loading. The program was used to analyze a tractor-trailer system moving at uniform motion up and downhill. The results of this analysis showed that the tractor becomes unstable when towing a 3750 kg trailer uphill at 28° slope angle. Insufficient traction occurred at slope angles ranging from 15° to 18° corresponding to trailer weight of 3750 to 750 kg.
