Unilateral Cryptorchidism in Nigerian Sahel Bucks International Journal of Morphology
Igbokwe,I. O; Grema,H. A; Ikpo,A. E; Mshelbwala,F. M; Igbokwe,N. A.
Out of 1608 Nigerian Sahel male goats (bucks) examined for cryptorchidism in an abattoir, 9 (0.6%) had right unilateral cryptorchidism. The coat colour-specific prevalence was highest among the brown bucks (2.1%); and was 0.8%, 0.6%, and 0.3% among black, white, back-and-white bucks, respectively. The condition was not found among bucks with brown-and-black, brown-and-white, and multiple coat colours. The right and left testes of normal bucks and the descended testes of cryptorchid bucks had comparable gross testicular measurements, but the retained cryptorchid testes were smaller in size. The estimates of the testicular measurements showed that testicular weights (with the entire epididymes), peripheral longitudinal lengths and mid-circumferences of the...

The Effects of an Experimentally Induced Unilateral Varicose Ovarian Vein on the Activities of Anti-Oxidant Enzymes in an Adult Rat Ovary International Journal of Morphology
Kehinde,Babatunde Adebayo; Abbasi,Niloufar; Abolhassani,Farid; Rastegar,Tayebeh; Daneshi,Erfan; Abbasi,Mehdi.
In this study, we aim to examine effects of an experimentally induced unilateral varicose ovarian vein on the activities of anti-oxidant enzymes in an adult rat ovary. In this experimental study, a total of 30 adult female Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups. 10 rats in group 1 as the varicocele group, 10 rats in group 2 as the control group and 10 rats in group 3 as the sham group, that underwent a sham operation and. Anti-oxidant assays were assessed via specific assay kits. Statistical analysis was performed using the one way ANOVA and Tukey's tests were used for post hoc multiple comparisons, P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The effects of the unilateral varicosity was more evident on the left side when compared to the...

Measuring the Potential of Unilateral CDM - A Pilot Study - AgEcon
Jahn, Michael; Michaelowa, Axel; Raubenheimer, Stefan; Liptow, Holger.
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) was originally seen as an instrument with a bilateral character where an entity from an industrialised country invests in a project in a developing country (DC). Also, multilateral funds were envisaged that would bundle investments to spread project risks. The sluggish implementation of incentives for industrialised country companies to embark on CDM projects and low carbon prices led to a preference of just buying Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) instead of investing in projects. Thus a third option has gained prominence - the unilateral option where the project development is planned and financed within the DC. We propose that a project should be called "pure unilateral" if it involves no foreign direct...
