Assessing the nexus on local perspective: a quali-quantitative framework for water-energy-food security evaluation in neglected territories. Repositório Alice

There is limited focus on the water-energy-food (WEF) nexus approach at the local scale, particularly considering the social contexts of neglected territories. To contribute to this debate, we propose a framework to address this topic in an area in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, as a case study. A survey was conducted regarding residents' perceptions, choices, practices and access to water, energy, and food. The interviews highlighted important topics on the WEF nexus. As a result, a set of 12 indicators with data available on official datasets was proposed, reflecting residents' perceptions of WEF safety. Principais conflitos da arborização urbana em Mogi Guaçu, SP. Repositório Alice

Resumo: Inúmeros trabalhos evidenciam os benefícios da arborização urbana, mas a falta de um planejamento adequado acarreta diversos conflitos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os principais conflitos da arborização urbana de Mogi Guaçu e apontar soluções para os mesmos. A pesquisa foi realizada por amostragem estratificada em cinco bairros do município, sendo selecionadas 75 quadras (quarteirões). Para avaliação dos conflitos foram analisados 10 parâmetros e também presença de pragas e doenças. Foram avaliadas 1290 árvores, e constatou-se que 41,78% das árvores estavam saudáveis e, os conflitos com fiações, garagens e com raízes se destacaram na avaliação.

Benefícios ambientais da arborização urbana em Mogi Guaçu, SP. Repositório Alice

Este estudo avaliou a arborização urbana em Mogi Guaçu, São Paulo, Brasil, de acordo com o poder aquisitivo. A amostragem estratificada foi realizada em cinco bairros, totalizando 75 blocos (quarteirões), possibilitando a identificação de 57 espécies, sendo 20 nativas e 37 exóticas. A frequência de espécimes exóticos foi de 77,15%. As três espécies mais frequentes (57,87%) apresentaram as maiores ocorrências fitossanitárias. Árvores pequenas apresentaram 63,13%, as médias 29,33% e as árvores grandes com 7,54% da frequência. Resumo: Para contribuir com o alcance das metas dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS 11) da Agenda 2030 o objetivo deste trabalho foi demonstrar um procedimento técnico-metodológico para mapear áreas de vegetação arbórea em zonas urbanas e diagnosticar áreas prioritárias à implementação de projetos de arborização a partir do processamento de imagens CBERS 4A de 2021. Para isso, o método proposto realiza o mapeamento da arborização urbana e de espaços verdes a partir do NDVI e dos critérios “30, 300” para o mapeamento de áreas prioritárias. We evaluated the ability of the Resilience Assessment Workbook to help urban areas incorporate resilience thinking into their planning practice by exploring how a resilience assessment process complemented existing planning in the local government of Eskilstuna, Sweden. Urbanization Drives a Reduction in Functional Diversity in a Guild of Nectar-feeding Birds Ecology and Society

Urbanization is a widespread and rapidly growing threat to biodiversity, therefore we need a predictive understanding of its effects on species and ecosystem processes. In this paper we study the impact of urbanization on a guild of nectar-feeding birds in a biodiversity hotspot at the Cape of Africa. The guild of four bird species provides important ecosystem services by pollinating 320 plant species in the Cape Floral Region. Functional diversity within the guild is related to differences in bill length. Understanding the dynamics of urban ecosystem services is a necessary requirement for adequate planning, management, and governance of urban green infrastructure. Through the three-year Urban Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (URBES) research project, we conducted case study and comparative research on urban biodiversity and ecosystem services across seven cities in Europe and the United States.
