Daarnaast... |

The robberfly Stichopogon elegantulus new to the Netherlands (Diptera: Asilidae) A female of the robberfly Stichopogon elegantulus (Wiedemann in Meigen 1820) was discovered in a malaise trap in Papenvoort (Drenthe, the Netherlands) on June, 22th, 1998. It is the first record for the Netherlands. The capture is odd because it is far north from the nearest sites where the species occurs, along the river Rhine in the southern parts of Germany. In Germany, the species extends its range northward. We expect, however, that the Dutch specimen was transported accidentally by man. There are no populations between our site and the sites in southern Germany, making it improbable that the range already extends so far north. |

New and rare flies for the Dutch fauna (Diptera) In this paper an overview is given of the author’s captures of rare and interesting Diptera, mainly from the years 1997-2000. In total 36 species from ten families are presented, of which four are new to the Dutch fauna (marked with an *), Empis confusa Loew, 1865 (Empididae), Temnosira ambusta (Meigen, 1826) (Pallopteridae), Chetostoma curvinerve Rondani, 1856 (Tephritidae) and Tephritis separata Rondani, 1871 (Tephritidae). |

New and interesting Dutch bugs ii, with an updated checklist (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) The following species are recorded for the first time from the Netherlands: Tupiocoris rhododendri (Miridae), Xylocoridea brevipennis (Anthocoridae), Metopoplax fuscinervis (Lygaeidae) and Elasmostethus minor (Acanthosomatidae). Six species are already shortly mentioned elsewhere as Dutch species, but are treated here in detail: Copium clavicorne and Derephysia sinuatocollis (Tingidae), Amphiareus obscuriceps (Anthocoridae), Horvathiolus superbus and Holcocranum saturejae (Lygaeidae), and Stagonomus bipunctatus pusillus (Pentatomidae). New data are provided for the following little known or rare species: the dipsocorid Cryptostemma waltli, the gerrid Gerris... |

The presence of the mole cricket Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa on the Dutch wadden island Texel (Orthoptera) This note addresses the distribution of the mole cricket (Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa (Linnaeus, 1758)) on the Dutch wadden island Texel. In 1998 and 1999, records of this species were published in a local newspaper. Later, more records got known. Until then, there were no known records of this species of Texel nor from the adjacent mainland. It became known that in the year 1900 large numbers of nests of mole crickets were found in a tree nursery on the island and that a population had been living in the surrounding area all through the 20th century. The large numbers in the nursery may suggest a non-native origin, however, no significant numbers of young... |
