The structural changes and morphological derivatives of progressive dentin hypermineralization determine the bonding to its surface. A planimetric study and fracture volume estimate were conducted to assess the efficacy of resin composite bonded to hypermineralized cervical dentin with and without retentions by applying a shear test. Thirty-four premolars from adult patients were used to obtain a flat cervical dentin surface. The specimens were distributed randomly into two groups: 1) experimental, where hemispherical retentions were carved into the cervical dentin, and 2) control, where the flat dentin was maintained. Using a jig, a resin column was built into the dentin surface fitted with bonding in specimens from both groups, which were then subjected... |

Anterior access to the L1-L5 vertebrae and disc spaces can be technically challenging, frequently requiring the use of an approach to a surgeon for an adequate exposure. The technique is used for lesion excision, corpectomy, vertebral body reconstruction with cages, realignment, and/or plating or screwing. For a successful anterior approach and a suitable instrumental design via screw, adequate morphometric knowledge about body of lumbar vertebrae and disc spaces and standardized volumetric data are also required for neurosurgeons. We aimed morphometric and volumetric evaluation of lumbar bodies and discs to contribute to a safe anterior approach during surgery. We evaluated vertebral body and disc morphometry using stereology in right-handed 25 adult... |

Abstract: Here we model and describe the wood volume of Cerrado Sensu Stricto, a highly heterogeneous vegetation type in the Savanna biome, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, integrating forest inventory data with spatial-environmental variables, multivariate regression, and regression kriging. Our study contributes to a better understanding of the factors that affect the spatial distribution of the wood volume of this vegetation type as well as allowing better representation of the spatial heterogeneity of this biome. Wood volume estimates were obtained through regression models using different environmental variables as independent variables. Using the best fitted model, spatial analysis of the residuals was carried out by selecting a semivariogram... |
