Aniline effect on concrete steel rebar degradation in saline and sulfate media CIGR Journal

Electrochemical potential monitoring experiments were performed on mild steel rebars embedded in concrete admixed with aniline inhibitor and fixed amount of sodium chloride salt partially immersed in sulfuric acid and sodium chloride solution.  The open circuit potential corrosion monitoring technique was employed and the potential readings were taken in accordance with ASTM C 876.  Repressive attribute and consistency of the inhibitor was then estimated by the Weibull probability density distribution as an extreme value statistical modeling approach to study performance effectiveness and to predict the most efficient inhibitor concentration in each media.  Aniline effect on the compressive strengths of the reinforced concrete samples was also investigated...

Closed form expressions for moments of the beta Weibull distribution Anais da ABC (AABC)
Cordeiro,Gauss M; Simas,Alexandre B; Stošic,Borko D.
The beta Weibull distribution was first introduced by Famoye et al. (2005) and studied by these authors and Lee et al. (2007). However, they do not give explicit expressions for the moments. In this article, we derive explicit closed form expressions for the moments of this distribution, which generalize results available in the literature for some sub-models. We also obtain expansions for the cumulative distribution function and Rényi entropy. Further, we discuss maximum likelihood estimation and provide formulae for the elements of the expected information matrix. We also demonstrate the usefulness of this distribution on a real data set.

The gamma-Weibull distribution revisited Anais da ABC (AABC)
Pogány,Tibor k.; Saxena,Ram k..
The five parameter gamma-Weibull distribution has been introduced by Leipnik and Pearce (2004). Nadarajah and Kotz (2007) have simplified it into four parameter form, using hypergeometric functions in some special cases. We show that the probability distribution function, all moments of positive order and the characteristic function of gamma-Weibull distribution of a random variable can be explicitely expressed in terms of the incomplete confluent Fox-Wright Psi-function, which is recently introduced by Srivastava and Pogány (2007). In the same time, we generalize certain results by Nadarajah and Kotz that follow as special cases of our findings.

Assessment of lettuce quality during storage at low relative humidity using Global Stability Index methodology Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
Ansorena,María Roberta; Agüero,María Victoria; Goñi,María Grabriela; Roura,Sara; Ponce,Alejandra; Moreira,María del Rosario; Di Scala,Karina.
During postharvest, lettuce is usually exposed to adverse conditions (e.g. low relative humidity) that reduce the vegetable quality. In order to evaluate its shelf life, a great number of quality attributes must be analyzed, which requires careful experimental design, and it is time consuming. In this study, the modified Global Stability Index method was applied to estimate the quality of butter lettuce at low relative humidity during storage discriminating three lettuce zones (internal, middle, and external). The results indicated that the most relevant attributes were: the external zone - relative water content, water content , ascorbic acid, and total mesophilic counts; middle zone - relative water content, water content, total chlorophyll, and ascorbic...
