Gracias al desarrollo de herramientas de simulación, como medio de obtención de soluciones prácticas, aplicadas a problemas de ingeniería y partiendo de la modelación de procesos físicos del ciclo hidrológico, se ha logrado describir al menos en parte la complejidad de los fenómenos que ocurren en la naturaleza, como lo es la simulación del crecimiento de los cultivos, en este caso específico del maíz. Em monoculturas, normalmente se observa uma variação de produção entre plantas, que pode estar ocorrendo desde o estabelecimento da população, pela habilidade competitiva destas. Este trabalho foi desenvolvido com o objetivo de selecionar parâmetros de habilidade competitiva, durante o estabelecimento, que se relacionam com o potencial de produção, no final do desenvolvimento. Plantas de trigo (EMBRAPA 16) e aveia (UFRGS 15) foram cultivadas em canteiros e a campo, correlacionando-se parâmetros morfológicos, nos estádios de afilhamento e florescimento. KKN01041-23-2-1-1 is a non-glutinous and non-photoperiod sensitive promising line derived from a three-way cross. The cross was made in 2004 at Khon Kaen Rice Research Centre, using PTT1 as a female parent and the line derived from the cross between Hawm Supanburi and Jao Hawm Nin as a male parent. The selected line; KKN01041-23-2-1-1, was evaluated in the inter-station yield trials for irrigated rice lines in north eastern Thailand during 2006-2011, and it gave an average yield of 620 kg./rai. This line was also evaluated in farmers' field trials in north eastern Thailand during 2008-2012 in both wet and dry season. The potential yield of wheat is mainly determined by temperature, solar radiation and the photothermal quotient. The objective of this study was to determine the temporal and spatial variability of the photothermal quotient and the frost risk to identify suitable sowing dates for wheat in Parana State, Brazil. The results showed that the photothermal quotient has greater spatial variability than temporal variability. The sowing date affects crop conditions that can in turn affect yield. However, the photothermal quotient and frost risk fluctuate differently in different Value for Cultivation and Use (VCU) regions. Tillering plays an important role in wheat yield potential and it is affected by genotype and environmental conditions. This work aimed to study the effects of phosphorus levels on tiller emergence, survival and contribution to yield potential of two wheat cultivars. The experiment was carried out under greenhouse conditions in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. A 2 x 5 factorial randomized block design with four replications was applied. Two wheat cultivars (IAC 370 and IAC 375) and five phosphorus levels (0, 150, 300, 450 and 600 mg dm-3) were evaluated in pots with 10 dm3 of a clayey Oxisol.
