| The study undertaken during the 1994-1998 planning contract on the Breton fishing fleet made it possible to underscore the size of the economic activity in regional territorial waters: More than 85% of the ships work there. This space, which is a matter of national sovereignty, is mainly managed at the regional level. To clarify the paths that may need to be taken, it seemed opportune to us to identify spatially the coastal fisheries, as well as the main current problems of planning. The fishing zones were mapped. This work required special surveys of the local fishing committees, because it could not be done from existing fishing statistics.
