In this synthesis of nearly 30 years of research on marine fish breeding (turbot, Scophthalmus maximus; sole, Solea solea; bass, Dicentrarchus labrax and sea bream, Sparus aurata) we present the main results acquired during the three periods devoted (1) to establishing zootechnical bases of marine fish breeding in general, theme 1, (2) to developing compound feeds adapted to young stages and optimising the feeds for juveniles, theme 2, and finally (3) to studying the impact of environmental factors on the growth capacity of sea fish juveniles, theme 3.
