Influence du froid, du vent et de la pluie sur les depenses energetiques et la thermoregulation de sept types genetiques de brebis Inra

La production de la chaleur de 64 brebis de 7 types génétiques d’ovins a été mesurée en chambres respiratoires pour déterminer l’influence sur leurs dépenses énergétiques, de conditions climatiques bien contrôlées simulant les intempéries rencontrées en alpage. À 15°C, en air calme, la thermogenèse des brebis est en moyenne de 3,55 kcal/kgPo,75 par h. Une réduction de 5°C de la température ambiante ou un vent turbulent de 2 à 4 m/s entraîne une augmentation de 9% de la thermogenèse. Exposées à la pluie et au vent, les brebis s’immobilisent, la tête basse et le dos au vent. La thermogenèse des brebis Préalpes et Mourérous augmente rapidement (en 1,5 h) et fortement (+101% et +120% respectivement) et, dans une moindre mesure, celle des brebis Communes...

A study was made of the effect of high temperatures on thermoregulation in a honeybee colony and on the behaviour of the bees. Thermoregulation was limited to the brood-nest. Its temperature did not exceed 37·6°C while the ambient one was 48°C. The activity of forager bees continued in spite of the extremely high temperatures (up to 48°C). During the middle of the day this activity decreased, but it was resumed as a result of transport of liquids when the ambient temperature was still 47·O°C. The activity of ventilating bees at the hive entrance and the velocity of the air current were influenced by the fluctuation of the temperature of the brood-nest. The respiratory metabolism of honey-bee colonies at low temperatures National Institute of Agronomic Research

Honigbienenvölker wurden im Winter aus ihren Stöcken genommen und in galvanisierten Eisenbehältern (Tanks) Temperaturen zwischen 20 und —39° C ausgesetzt. Das Kohlendioxyd der aus den Behältern abgesogenen Luft wurde absorbiert und gewogen. Die CO2-Produktion sank, wenn die Temperatur von 20 auf 10° erniedrigt wurde und stieg bei niederen Temperaturen wieder an. Diese Veränderungen verliefen in umgekehrter Richtung, wenn die Temperatur erhöht wurde.

The aim of the investigation is to make a contribution to the problem in what degree the thermal reaction of the respiratory metabolism in insects is qualitatively or quantitatively changed when subjected experimentally for some length of time to variations in the thermal environment. The material under investigation consists of imagines of Stauroderus bicolor CHARP. (Orthoptera), Formica rufa L. (Hymenoptera), Stomoxys calcitrans L. (Diptera), Forficula auricularia L.
