| The species described in this Note and dedicated to the late Dr. E. Candèze of Glain near Liege is very interesting necessitating the establishment of a new section in my Synopsis of the species of this genus 1). It belongs to the division I (base of elytra coloured as the apex), A (elytra with four convex flavous spots), b (pronotum finely and evenly punctured, without raised patches), but it has the prosternum neither entirely fulvous (α), nor fulvous in the middle with the lateral portions metallic green (β): in the new species the prosternum is entirely of a dark metallic green colour. |

| Les travaux des géologues hollandais et de quelques savants anglais nous ont déjà fait connaître un bon nombre de foraminifères fossiles de Java et de Borneo, mais il reste encore à glaner après eux. Je viens de trouver dans une roche calcaire de Borneo que Mons. MARTIN, professeur à Leiden, a bien voulu me communiquer une espèce nouvelle de Lepidocyclina qu’il m’a autorisé à publier. Ces calcaires de couleur grise ou jaunâtre sont pétris de foraminifères, parfois si serrés les uns sur les autres qu’ils constituent presque à eux seuls la roche. Malheureusement elle est si compacte qu’il est impossible de songer à isoler les foraminifères et l’on ne peut avoir recours qu’à des sections. | Herr R. Oberthür hatte die Güte, mir eine Reihe neuer Paussiden seiner Sammlung zur Beschreibung zu übersenden. Einige andere Arten wurden von Herrn C. Ritsema aus dem Rijksmuseum von Leiden eingesandt. Hiezu kommt noch eine von Dr. Hans Brauns und eine von Herrn Rob. Ch. Wroughton aufgefundene Art. Ich statte den Herren Einsendern hiermit meinen Dank ab. Leider liegt nur für eine einzige der hier erwähnten Paussiden die Angabe der Wirthsart vor. Nach der Beschreibung der Arten werde ich einen Nachtrag beifügen zu der in Band XVIII der »Notes” 1) S. 75 und 76 gegebenen Liste der Paussiden-Wirthe. |

| Since more than a century the »Diana” has become such a well known Monkey that every child can show it you in every Zoological Garden. Therefore it may be called somewhat hazardously to move the supposition that — although it seems to be so familiar an animal to children — it has always been misunderstood by naturalists and scientific authors. In our collection there are 9 specimens (among them 2 from the Gold-coast and 4 from Liberia) all labeled Cercopithecus diana. Some weeks ago Mr. Oscar Neumann, the excellent German Africa-traveller, told me that he had observed some differences between our Liberia- and Gold-coast-specimens, differences sufficiently striking to regard upon them as two distinct species. | The specimens of a lot of a Leptopoma, collected by Baron von Rosenberg at Gorontalo, Celebes, have the general appearance of some varieties of L. vitreum Lesson, but their columellar margin is simple. I had compared them with the species of the genus known from Celebes, but I could not identify them with any of these. So I sent a few specimens to Prof. E. von Martens and asked his advice, and this author declared them to be a variety of L. manadense Pfr. (As I had compared them with typical specimens of this species agreeing with the figure in Pfeiffer’s Novitates conchologicae, Vol. IV, pl. 128, fig. 9, I did not come to this identification). XV, p. 148), I had at my disposal only some defective specimens from the Leyden Museum, the antennae being incomplete: the third joint of them being wanting. At that time I overlooked an essential character of the genus Habropogon , viz. the unusual shortness of the first tarsal joint. Latterly having become acquainted with some true species of that genus, I am aware of my error in referring the above species to it. | Dans les pages précédentes j’ai décrit quelques uns des nombreux échantillons de roche recueillis par M. Martin pendant son voyage de Séran (Céram). Les types suivants en sont les plus intéressants, les granites à cordiérite, les diorites les péridotites, les andésites à augite, les gneiss, les micaschistes et les grauwackes. Les granites contiennent de grands cristaux d’orthose, qui renferment des dihexaèdres de quartz. En outre on y trouve du plagioklase et du biotite. Le cordiérite ne diffère point du cordiérite d’Ambon, que j’ai décrit dans un traité précédent. La plupart des diorites montre un caractère plus ou moins porphyritique. | Die als Jungtertiär (m 1, m 2 und m 3) kartirten Sedimente von Java und Madura nehmen ± 38% der ganzen Oberfläche dieser Eilande ein, während sich die posttertiären Ablagerungen mit reichlich 33%, die vulkanischen ¹) Bildungen mit fast 28%, alle vorneogenen Gesteine aber nur mit reichlich 1% betheiligen ²). Für eine genaue Eintheilung jener jungtertiären Sedimente würde es selbstredend einer ansehnlichen Reihe von Fossillisten bedürfen; doch sind dieselben keineswegs vorhanden. | Der Granit ist nur durch drei Schliffe vertreten, welche sämmtlich von der Nordküste der Insel, nämlich vom Strande bei Waëpote herrühren. Wenn auch die drei Nummern einander ziemlich ähnlich sind, so sind doch wenigstens in den vorliegenden Schliffen und Handstücken einige Unterschiede zu bemerken. Am grosskörnigsten ist die Nummer 793; ein feineres Korn besitzt die Nummer 794, ein noch feineres die Nummer 795. Zumal die letzteren zwei sind arm an farbigen Mineralien. Zur Voruntersuchung wurde an erster Stelle Nr. 793 verwendet, weil die Bestandtheile sich hier bei einer Korngrösse von etwa zwei mm und mehr schon makroskopisch unterscheiden lassen. Der Orthoklas von weisser Farbe und der farblose Quarz treten für das unbewaffnete Auge schon deutlich... |
