| La pousse et le verdissement des huîtres dans les claires de la région de Marennes posent de nombreux problèmes restés, jusqu'ici, sans solution. La raison en est que les observations faites par les ostréiculteurs manquent forcément des précisions nécessaires. D'autre part, si les recherches effectuées au laboratoire par des naturalistes et des chimistes ont pu donner des indications souvent précieuses, les conditions en sont trop différentes de la pratique de l'ostréiculture pour pouvoir conduire à la solution des problèmes envisagés. | Effectuées suivant une méthode maintenant bien établie, nos observations sur la production du naissain ont commencé au mois de mai. La température de l'eau augmente régulièrement depuis le début du mois et atteint la moyenne de 17° au 15 : mais elle fléchit très sensiblement ensuite et ne dépasse guère 15° jusqu'à la fin du mois. Cette température est inférieure à celle de l'année dernière et jusqu'à ce moment, les pêches de plancton n'ont montré la présence d'aucune larve, plate ou portugaise. [OCR NON CONTRÔLE] |

| A biological fact, which seemed to have a limited impact, has turned into a wider phenomenon since our experimental studies. In a critical review written by one of us (1), we had already demonstrated that the turning blue of Navicula ostrearia could not be considered as a property specific to this individual. In a dissertation (2), Hinard names other oyster bottom diatoms, less numerous than Navicula ostrearia, but showing a blue pigment as well (Storoneis crucigerum, Amphiprora paludosa). A few years ago, one of us, in collaboration with A. Jouvent (3) showed that, in specific environmental condition, some marine diatoms, belonging to other genera than Navicula (Nitzschia, Grammatophora) show this blue pigmentation phenomenon.
