| 1) - The present paper contains the results of the analysis of homogeneity in an experiment on the fertilization of the orange "Baía" (Washington Navel), in progress since 1932 in the Experiment Station of the Instituto Agronômico do Estado de São Paulo, at Limeira, São Paulo, Brasil. Such an experiment has to be divided into two phases': a preliminary period during which the trees remain without fertilizer in order to study their production and the homogeneity of the experimental plots, and the final period during which the different treatments are to be applied. | The State of São Paulo imports straw of Sorghum for its broom industry when this material could be satisfactorily produced in the State. The principal hereditary defects of the broom-corn which could be eliminated to a certain extent by selection are goose neck panicles, twisted panicles and stemmy panicles. Various introduced varieties were subjected to comparative field tests along with a local variety which came years ago from Argentine. This variety superseeded all the others when subjected to selection. All the lineages derived from it when tested with the primitive and recently introduced stock revealed far superior in many respects. É dada uma pequena descrição dos principais caracteres morfológicos de dois híbridos interespecíficos triplóides (C. arabica x C. canephora); seu crescimento é normal e a forma e tamanho das fôlhas e das flores intermediários entre as duas espécies. 2. | 1. The present paper represents the final report of the experiment about the constancy in a clon of the orange "Baianinha" which has been studied during the past four years. 2. The trees were obtained by grafting buds taken from one tree, 17-2, of the "Asilo" in Piracicaba, on non-selected seedling root stock of sour orange. 3. The fruits were collected separately for each tree and their diameter (in mm) determined. The test "within-between" showed clearly that the variation between the means of trees and within trees are of a totally different order, the former being about 10 times bigger than the latter. 4. | This article deals with the observations made in the ovule and development of the macrogametophyte in Coffea arabica L. var. monosperma. The young ovule is normally constituted by a rudimentary nucellus surrounded by a single and well developed integument. No irregularities are found until the beginning of the first meiotic division in the ma-crosporocyte which is situated inside the nucellus. The two meiotic divisions are very abnormal and during this process, 44,4 % of the otherwise normal macrospores degenerate. Only. a few normal macrospores are formed. | 1. Foi feita uma revisão dos casos já descritos por Krug (4) de mutações somáticas do par de alelos Na-na do Coffea arabica L. 2. Foram descritos com detalhes três novos casos de mutações somáticas dêsse par de gens, a saber: a) Um exemplar da var. nana com um brôto ponteiro considerado do tipo bourbon, embora com fôlhas mais grossas do que as dos exemplares típicos dessa variedade. A mutação deu-se, portanto, da condição duplamente recessiva para a duplamente dominante (na na →Na Na). | As caraterísticas geológicas, físicas e químicas, de 22 entre os principais tipos de solos do Estado de S. Paulo, são estudadas. A descrição dessas caraterísticas é feita quantitativamente por meio de uma série de 56 diagramas, cuja significação e método de leitura estão explicados. As regiões dos 22 tipos de solos estão descritas quanto à sua localização, caraterísticas geológicas, topográficas, fitogeográficas e pluvio-métricas, além de notas sôbre os tipos de exploração e sôbre o uso racional dos solos. | 1 - The present paper deals with the results of studies on pollen fertility, number of seeds per fruit and frequency of polyembryony in Citrus. 2 - The pollen may be divided into four groups of which the first consists of the living and functional grains, colouring deeply with carmín acetic, germinating in sugar solutions fairly well. The remainny three types : half filled grains, empty grains, and small deformed grains are all inviable. 3 - The grains are generally spherical, 15 to 40ix in diameter.
