Oriental Pear Breeding for High Fruit Quality and Adaptation to Subtropical Lowland in Taiwan Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]The breeding objective of pear is to develop varieties with high fruit quality but low chilling requirement for table use. Hybridizations of 9 combinations started in 1976 were made from a native, very low-chilling required variety 'Hungshan' and 7 introduced varieties with high-chilling requirement but high fruit quality. Hybrid progenies were planted with a highly dense spacing of lMx4M at TARI's experimental orchard which is about 100M above sea level. Five hybrid progenies with early maturing, high fruit quality and low-chilling requirement in characters were selected out of more than 1,500 hybrid seedlings after 1 to 5 years juvernile period by the culture of single trunk training and heavy fertilization. 低海拔桃品種改良初報 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]為改善本省低海拔桃之品質,陸續自世界各地引進桃種源試種,至76年度調查之資料顯示共有水蜜桃22種,油桃5種,蟠桃1種,罐桃1種,在平地可開花結實,其品質較本省低海拔栽培品種為優,而遜於高冷地品種。 利用超高密度種植實生苗,經過一年半後由814株自然授粉而來之實生後代中選出1─20等8個果大,風味佳之品系。控制授粉分3個途徑進行:(1)將本省在來品種與品質優良但高需冷性的高海拔水蜜桃品種互相雜交。(2)將低需冷性桃品種與高海拔之水蜜桃品種互相雜交。(3)將引入之低需冷性水蜜桃品種互相雜交。至76年度為止初選出5─9等3個優良品系繼續作進一步之觀察。 以本省在來品種及引進試種成功之桃品種和高海拔種植之水蜜桃雜交,有些組合胚退化情形嚴重,無法獲得雜交後代,以胚培養雜交胚,結果以低海拔桃品種為母本時,自授粉後第50天起,即可將胚置於MS培養基中培養成苗。以高海拔桃品種為母本時,亦可在果實硬熟期時,將胚取出培養於MS培養基中,置5°C中4個後,再移到日溫25°C、夜溫21°C之環境培養成苗。 高、低海拔花期不同,以高海拔品種為父本時,花粉需經長期貯存,以真空低溫(-20°C)貯藏花粉10個月後,依品種不同,發芽率自50%~90%,較不抽真空之對照組提高40%。 To improve lowland peach of Taiwan, several cultivars, including peach, nectarine, peen-tao and canning peach, were selected as parents for hybridization. 柑桔鱗砧病在臺灣兩種主要甜橙品種之發生與為害 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]採自本省十七處柳橙、九處晚崙夏橙及三處極柑果園之接穗,經指示植物檢定結果,發現所有柳橙及晚崙夏橙果園均有鱗砧病潛伏或為害。以酸桔為砧木之甜橙樹雖然有鱗砧病存在,但外觀仍頗健全;以廣東檸檬為砧木之甜橙樹,則部分已呈現典型鱗砧病病徵,並有矮化現象。三處極柑園則未發現鱗砧病之存在。由此可知,鱗砧病確已普遍存在於本省兩種主要甜橙品種上。 The purpose of this investigation is to prove the occurrence of citrus exocortis viroid (CEV) disease in Liucheng and Valencia orange in Taiwan. Citrus seedlings of Arizona 861 selection of “Etrog” citron were used as indicator plant in the experiment. Budwoods from 29 orchards, including 17 Liucheng, 9 Valencia and 3 Ponkan, were collected for indexing the existence of the disease. 柑橘多脈性之研究一珠心胚苗之分離 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]柑橘珠心胚苗與受精胚苗之分離可利用枳殼三葉顯性遺傳之特性。取枳殼為花粉親分別雜交葡萄袖、桶柑、碰柑及苦柚。其雜交種子播種後,萌生三葉實生苗者為受精胚苗,與單葉之珠心胚苗其分別甚為顯著。據調查: Marsh 葡萄抽之珠心自胚苗率達 51.5%, Ruby 葡萄柚 57.8%,桶柑 78%,椪柑 100%。苦柚僅萌生受精胚苗。受精胚苗之初期生長具顯著之雜種優勢。 The nucellar seedlings and zygotic seedlings of citrus can be accurately discriminated from leaves by using the dominant inherited character of trifoliate orange. Marsh grapefruit, ruby grapefruit, tankan, ponkan and one variety of shadock were crossed with trifoliate orange pollens. [[abstract]]為獲得優良無病毒之柑橘種苗,曾調查柑橘母樹,並先後經初選與複選之步驟,計獲外觀生長強健產量豐富之椪柑132 裸、桶柑50 裸、柳橙80 棵及晚崙西亞橙100 棵作為母樹。後逐年採取果實行品質分析,並採取接穗以芽接繁殖於二年生健全廣東檸檬幼苗上,復經每日以40℃ 照光16 小時及30℃ 無照光8 小時交替循環溫度之熱處理三個月或更長時間,由幼苗採取新生嫩穗(young shoot)作嫁接繁殖(shoot-tip Propagation ),育成苗木後再利用不同指示植物檢定,獲得無Likubin, Tristeza, Psorosis, Concave gum 及Exocortis 之椪柑及桶柑苗各11 株作為原種樹,分植隔離網室。以同法施於柳橙及晚崙西亞橙品種,雖經熱處理,但測定後,仍含有Exocortis 病,故未有該兩品種之原種樹。 The citrus virus and virus-like diseases have become the citrus industry serious problem in Taiwan. [[abstract]]荔枝優良品種「台農1 號」(76-C-2)是農業試驗所嘉義分所以「黑葉」品種為母本, 「玉荷包」品種為父本,於民國76 年進行人工雜交授粉歷經實生苗選拔,品系比較試 驗及區域試驗,前後共計17 年,於民國93 年6 月8 日經過農委會農糧署複審後命名, 商品名「翠玉」。本品種果實品質優良,單果重在15.7 公克至29.5 公克之間,種子重 在0.4 公克至1.3 公克之間,果肉率在80.5%至86.3%之間,焦核率在51.9%至100%之 間,可溶性固形物含量在17.6 度至20.2 oBrix,果皮顏色綠色帶微紅,5 年生植株單株 產量在30 公斤以上。

荔枝新品種台農3號玫瑰紅之育成 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]荔枝「台農3 號」(75-S-1-4) 是農業試驗所嘉義分所歷經20 年選育而成,於 民國95 年12 月通過農委會果樹品種審議委員會審議,並於民國96 年3 月取得品 種權。本品種果實品質優良,單果重在23 g 至29 g,種子重在1.0 g 至3.2 g,果 肉率在67%至75%,可溶性固形物含量在17.4°Brix 至20.2°Brix,可滴定酸在0.12% 至0.17%之間,果肉Q 並帶有如玫瑰般的特殊香氣,果皮顏色如紅玫瑰般的鮮紅 美豔,果棘圓鈍,果皮縫合線明顯,縫合線兩邊的果皮會略微突起,果皮易從縫 合線剝開,且剝開後果肉易從果蒂脫落,因此食用時,果肉及果汁不沾手,為其 一大特點。

金香葡萄產期調節之研究-1. 芽體分化與結實潛能之調查 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本試驗利用解剖顯微鏡觀察彰化縣二林鎮金香葡萄春季所萌結果枝上2.9節芽體分化之過程及其結實潛能,以配合生產釀酒葡萄之產期調節作業,提高釀酒原料之品質,結果發現:花穗原始體於春季萌芽後45天內(即花期)開始形成,且基部起5節與6-8節之芽於往後的30天及60天內大致完成數的分化,而花穗原始體之發育則要延續到7月15日始停止,此時花穗原始體數的分化以第6、7、8及9等四節為最多;花穗原始體大小的發育,以6、7、8等三節為最好。因而芽體結實潛能亦以第6、7、8等三節為最大。但因新枝上芽體結實潛能普遍低下,若以現行的栽培管理法進行落葉修剪促成栽培,單就芽體結實潛能評估夏秋二季可能的產量分佈,僅有10%成功與20%得到一次正常產量與一次中等產量之希望,另有10%得到兩次中等產量與30%僅得一次中等產量之可能,更有甚者,尚須冒30%只得極低產量的風險。此外,熱積溫亦不能滿足二收之需要,因此筆者不建議繼續推廣現有的產期調節法,而建議進行整枝與棚架型式的研究,諸如Lyre系統,以改進葡萄園樹冠獲得最大的有效光合作用。好在夏或秋季一次收穫高產量及高品質之釀酒原料葡萄。 The progressive bud differentiation and fruiting potential of bud 2 to bud 9 on new fruiting shoot of Golden Muscat grapevine at Er-lin town were inspected by stereomicroscope with an aim to improve its wine quality in forcing culture.
