Comparaison de 3 methodes de mesure de la transpiration de jeunes arbres (flux de seve, pesee, bilan de chaleur) Inra

Trois méthodes de mesure de la transpiration ont été comparées sur de jeunes noyers (Juglans regia L, cv Lara) cultivés en bacs, pendant une période de 115 j en 1990. La mesure de transpiration par pesée a servi de référence et a été comparée à la mesure du flux de sève dans le tronc par bilan thermique, ainsi qu’à la mesure de transpiration par échanges gazeux. De plus les mesures de flux de sève ont été multipliées sur le même arbre afin, d’une part, d’estimer la sensibilité de cette méthode et, d’autre part, d’évaluer le stockage d’eau entre ces 2 hauteurs. Un calage précis de la mesure du flux de sève a été obtenu dans le cas où les arbres ont subi une courte période de sécheresse intense, ce qui a conduit alors à un très bon accord avec la pesée,...

Embolism formation during freezing in the wood of Picea abies Inra

Freeze-thaw events can cause embolism in plant xylem. According to classical theory, gas bubbles are formed during freezing and expand during thawing. Conifers have proved to be very resistant to freeze-thaw induced embolism, because bubbles in tracheids are small and redissolve during thawing. In contrast, increasing embolism rates upon consecutive freeze-thaw events were observed that cannot be explained by the classical mechanism. Temporal and spatial variations of photosynthesis and transpiration are particularly important when considering vegetative growth and fruit variability in fruit trees. Spatial variation of physiological processes depends on light distribution, which in turn depends on the relative position of main branches and geometry of their foliage. The general aim of this research was to investigate the capacity of RATP (radiation absorption, transpiration, photosynthesis) functional-structural model to adequately simulate the within-tree behavior of fruiting branches at an intra-hourly step-time. The effects of root temperature on water flux, potential and root resistance in sunflower Inra

Nous avons suivi l’influence d’un abaissement de la température de la solution nutritive (20 °C à 2,5 °C), pendant 24 h, sur les flux et l’état hydrique d’un tournesol en conditions contrôlées, grâce à un dispositif mesurant simultanément et en continu (fig 1): l’absorption, la transpiration, le potentiel hydrique foliaire et la température du milieu racinaire. Pour les températures les plus froides nous observons un découplage du flux d’absorption par rapport à la transpiration, conduisant au déficit hydrique du végétal (fig 2). Walnut cultivar performance of cold resistance in south central France Inra

In south-central France, walnut exhibited freezing tolerance by acclimation in the fall and deacclimation in the spring. The cold hardiness level varied with the different cultivars and dates. Cold tolerance performances of 7 walnut fruit cultivars (Chandler, Franquette, Fernor, Fernette, Lara, Pedro, Serr) and of the hybrid Juglans regia × Juglans nigra NG38 were compared in the same location, at the INRA Center of Clermont-Ferrand. For these comparisons, an electrolyte leakage conductivity method (LT50) was used and adapted for walnut.In all cases NG38 (Juglans regia × Juglans nigra) appeared particularly cold resistant.
