Comparative distribution of somatostatin, LH-RH, neurophysin, and alpha-endorphin in rainbow trout: an immunocytological study Animal Physiology

Using immunofluorescence, evidence of a somatostatin (SR1F)-like antigen has been found in the brain and digestive tract of rainbow trout. In the diencephalon, periventricular SRIF immunoreactive hypendymocytes are located in the region dorsal to the nucleus preopticus (NPO). SRIF immunoreactive perikarya are concentrated anterior to the NPO in the nucleus preopticus periventricularis, scattered in small cells in the nucleus lateralis tuberis (NLT) pars anterior, and in a few cells located in an unnamed nucleus in the dorsomedial hypothalamus. In the pituitary SRIF immunoreactive material is located in the neurohypophysial tissue in the proximal pars distalis. Immunocytologie et histochimie des cellules gonadotropes et thyréotropes hypophysaires chez la Carpe Cyprinus carpio Animal Physiology

Des anticorps préparés, l'un à partir d'un facteur gonadotrope de Carpe, l'autre d'un matériel hypophysaire de Carpe riche en TSH, permettent de séparer en immunofluorescence un type unique de cellules gonadotropes et un deuxième type cellulaire présumé thyréotrope dans l'hypophyse de la Carpe. Un anticorps anti LH ovine révèle la même population cellulaire, mais la LH ovine n'inhibe pas la fluorescence de l'Ac. antigonadotrope de Carpe. Un anticorps anti TSH bovine, actif chez les ruminants et le Porc, est sans action sur les cellules thyréotropes de l'hypophyse de la Carpe.

A somatostatin-like antigen has been localized in the brain and the digestive tract of the rainbow trout. In the brain, SRIF perikarya were observed scattered throughout the hypothalamus or present in definite hypothalamic nuclei (i) nearly all the Gomori negative perikarya of the NPP (Peter and Gill, 1975) appeared to react with anti-SRIF but not at all with anti-neurophysin (ii) a small unidentified nucleus was present in the dorsomedial hypothalamus and showed a few SRIF-containing perikarya (iii) many SRIF cells were scattered in the rostral and median peri-infundibular areas of the NLT (iv) in the wall of the 3rd ventricle, hypendymocytes next to the upper part of the NPO did not react uniformly to anti-SRIF. Variation of microsatellite size homoplasy across electromorphs, loci, and populations in three invertebrate species Inra

Size homoplasy was analyzed at microsatellite loci by sequencing electromorphs, that is, variants of the same size (base pairs). This study was conducted using five interrupted and/or compound loci in three invertebrate species, the honey bee Apis mellifera, the bumble bee Bombus terrestris, and the freshwater snail Bulinus truncatus. The 15 electromorphs sequenced turned out to hide 31 alleles (i.e., variants identical in sequence). Variation in the amount of size homoplasy was detected among electromorphs and loci. From one to seven alleles were detected per electromorph, and one locus did not show any size homoplasy in both bee species.
