With the objective of determining maize?s specific water requirements in different soil cover conditions in a Cerrado region of Mato Grosso, Brazil, this study used the dual?s crop coefficient (Kc dual) approach, according to FAO methods. An experiment was carried out in 2016, with three treatments: without vegetation soil cover; soil cover of 4 t ha-1 and soil cover of 8 t ha-1 dry matter of brachiaria grass. The used methodology accounts for crop?s transpiration component (through its basal coefficient, Kcb) and soil evaporation component (through its coefficient, Ke), which were determined for initial, intermediate and final phases of crop development. Experiments were carried in lysimeters to determine crop?s evapotranspiration, and in microlysimeters... |

Conservation systems of production are promoting yields and profitability, intercropping systems aim at sustainable maximization of soil and water use, and have become an alternative for regions characterized by relatively short rainy periods and high temperatures. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the intercropping system between maize ( Zea mays L.) and C. juncea ( Crotalaria juncea L.) on soil temperature and humidity for the municipa lity of Tangará da Serra in Brazil. The treatments consisted of the single crop of maize and crotalaria, as well as their intercrop cultivation, the soil temperature was evaluated at depths of 0.10, 0.20, 0.30 and 0.40 m and soil moisture at depths of 0.20 and 0.40 m. The components of grain... |

The Ceres-Maize model was to study water consumption and profitability of maize crop at three growing seasons, for two regions of Minas Gerais, Brazil, for establishing and evaluating the necessary database for the use of this model. Cultivar BR201 was used to evaluate conduction distinct strategies of the crop, at the location of Sete Lagoas and Janauba. Treatments consisted of conduction of irrigated and non-irrigated crops during the growing seasons (15 May to 15 October and 15 December) and two frequency levels of water application: high (central pivot) and medium (conventional sprinkler irrigation). The simulation results have shown that the use of these models as complementary tools to conventional trials and the information presented helped on... |
