* • Mechanisms of root penetration by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are unknown and investigations are hampered by the lack of transformation systems for these unculturable obligate biotrophs. Early steps of host infection by hemibiotrophic fungal phytopathogens, sharing common features with those of AM fungal colonization, depend on the transcription factor STE12.* • Using degenerated primers and rapid amplification of cDNA ends, we isolated the full-length cDNA of an STE12-like gene, GintSTE, from Glomus intraradices and profiled GintSTE expression by real-time and in situ RT-PCR. Les plants de Rhododendron issus de culture in vitro subissent environ 10% de pertes lors de leur acclimatation en serre. Des essais de mycorhization contrôlée ont été effectués pour tenter d’améliorer le système de production. L’examen de racines de plantes prélevées en pépinières a révélé la présence de 7 champignons différents parmi lesquels 1 est endomycorhizogène et 6 sont défavorables à la culture, d’où la nécessité de désinfecter le substrat avant le repiquage des jeunes vitroplants. Deux champignons endomycorhizogènes à arbuscules (Glomus intraradices, Glomus caledonium), introduits pendant la période d’acclimatation, ont été testés pour leur pouvoir infectieux et leur effet sur la croissance de plants micropropagés de merisiers (Prunus avium L) transplantés dans deux différents sols neutres, préalablement désinfectés ou non. Les vitroplants endomycorhizés présentent une meilleure croissance que les plantes témoins sur les deux sols désinfectés. Nonpathogenic isolates of Fusarium oxysporum can be successful antagonists of pathogenic forms of the same fungal species that commonly attacks crop plants. The characteristics that distinguish nonpathogenic from pathogenic forms are not well understood. In this study, the mode of root colonization of Eucalyptus viminalis seedlings by a nonpathogenic F. oxysporum strain is described at the ultrastructural level. The co-existence of two arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) species, Glomus intraradices and Glomus claroideum, in the root systems of plants was investigated in a greenhouse experiment aimed at reconstructing interactions during an early stage of primary succession on a coal-mine spoil bank in Central Europe. Effect of some plant flavonoids on in vitro behaviour of an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Inra

Deux isoflavonoïdes (la glycéolline I et le coumestrol) et un flavonoïde (la quercétine) ont été éprouvés vis-à-vis de la germination in vitro de Gigaspora margarita. Les expériences ont été faites en utilisant les concentrations de 0, 0,05, 0,5, 5 et 50 μmol.l-1 dans l’eau gélosée contenant 0,5% d’éthanol pour les premiers et de 0, 0,1, 1,et 10 μmol.l-1 dans l’eau gélosée pure pour la quercétine. In the absence of sequenced genomes for arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, their obligatory biotrophy makes their intra-radical biology especially recalcitrant to functional analyses. Because tandem mass spectrometry-based proteomics enables fungal gene product identifications in phyla lacking genomic information, we have compared as a way to enlarge the coverage of in planta expressed-mycorrhiza-related proteins, the root proteome responses of Medicago truncatula upon colonisation with two AM fungi, Glomus mosseae and G. intraradices, using two-dimensional electrophoresis. Les activités chitinases de racines de tomate en symbiose avec le champignon mycorhizogène Glomus mosseae, dans une interaction pathogène avec Phytophthora nicotianae var parasitica et dans des racines colonisées par G mosseae depuis deux semaines et post-infectées par le pathogène ont été étudiées en gels d’électrophorèse natifs (Page) et dénaturants (SDS-Page). En conditions natives, les racines témoins ont révélé plusieurs isoformes acides de chitinase. Des microplantes de 2 porte-greffes de pommier (M9, M26) et d’un cultivar (Golden) ont été inoculés avec des champignons VAM pendant une phase très précoce de l’acclimatation, après la micropropagation, et ont reçu des solutions nutritives comprenant des doses variables de P. La fertilisation phosphatée à un niveau élevé de P (40 ppm) n’a pas eu d’effet sur la réponse de croissance de plantes de pommiers mycorhizées. A des niveaux plus faibles de 8 et 4 ppm (P) les plantes mycorhizées ont la même vitesse de croissance que celles recevant 40 ppm de P. The influence of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizae on the efficiency of triple superphosphate and rock phosphate fertilizers was compared in two tropical, acid, P-fixing soils (Ivory Coast) in which the available P was labelled with 32PO inf4 sup3- . Both soils were planted with micropropagated oil palms. The growth reponses to the fertilizer applications were low unless accompanied by VAM inoculation, but both fertilizers were equally available to plants. Les Gloméromycètes, formant la symbiose mycorhizienne à arbuscules, sont des champignons biotrophes obligatoires qui sont intimement associés aux tissus végétaux qu’ils colonisent. Les techniques utilisées pour suivre l’expression des gènes fongiques dans les racines mycorhizées ne permettent pas de définir le profil spatio-temporel de leur activité. The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis belongs to the strategies plants have developed to cope with adverse environmental conditions including contamination by heavy metals such as cadmium (Cd). In the present work, we report on the protective effect conferred by AM symbiosis to the model legume Medicago truncatula grown in presence of Cd, and on the 2-D-based proteomic approach further used to compare the proteomes of M. truncatula roots either colonised or not with the AM fungus Glomus intraradices in Cd-free and Cd-contaminated substrates. Fusarium species are soil-borne fungal pathogens that produce a variety of disease symptoms when attacking crop plants. The mode of root colonization of Eucalyptus viminalis seedlings by a pathogenic F. oxyporum strain (Foeu1) at the ultrastructural level and changes in cell wall pectin during host pathogen interactions are described.
