Upland rice occupied 47 percent of rice production area of the northern Thailand. Production of upland rice is facing with drought particularly in early stage of growth. This study was aimed at evaluation of indigenous upland rice for early drought resistance. The experiment was conducted in greenhouse. One hundred and eighty seven upland rice varieties including ULR 135 (resistant check) were grown in plastic pots. Randomized complete block design with 2 replications was laid out. Seeds were sown in pots under greenhouse condition. Two seedling were let to grow in each pot. Early drought was performed at 28 days after planting (DAP) for 17 days. Yield trials of sugarcane under diverse conditions are the important step of breeding procedure which can be identified the suitable variety for growing in each agro-ecological zone. The sugarcane varieties i.e. KKU99-01 and KKU99-02 were used to compare with UT94-2-483, UT95-2-156 and KK94-2-200 and 2 check varieties, K84-200 and K88-92. The trials were laid out in RCB, 4 replications, 1.20 x 0.50 m spacing and plot size 8.0x 4.8 m. Fertilizer (15-15-15) at the rate of 100 kg/rai was applied twice, basal application and about 4 months after planting. Saline soil is a major problem that affects growth and productivity of rice. Spermidine (Spd), a member of polyamine (PA), is a plant growth regulator playing essential roles in protecting many crop plants under salinity stress. The objective of this study was to explore the roles of exogenous spermidine in protecting salt-stressed rice plants by evaluating its effects on three physiological indicators of plant stress. Production of haploids is an important tool for the rapid generation of homozygous breeding lines. Experiments have been conducted with the aim of developing a method for haploids peanut plant production by us -ing anther culture. Peanut genotype Tainan 9 was tested with different media compositions. The suitable medium for anther culture of peanut in this study was N6 The callus was white to creamish at the time of induction with loose to compact form. Callus proliferation was well developed in MS medium supplemented with 4 mg/l IAA and 2 mg/l Kinetin. In some cases, green spots were observed in the callus.
