| • The plant plasma membrane-localized NADPH oxidases, known as respiratory burst oxidase homologues (RBOHs), appear to play crucial roles in plant growth and development. They are involved in important processes, such as root hair growth, plant defence reactions and abscisic acid signalling. • Using sequence similarity searches, we identified seven putative RBOH-encoding genes in the Medicago truncatula genome. A phylogenetic reconstruction showed that Rboh gene duplications occurred in legume species. | The variability of monogenean gill ectoparasite species richness in 19 West African cyprinid species was analyzed using the following seven predictor variables : host size, number of drainage basins, number of sympatric cyprinid species, host diversity, association with mainland forest, host ecology, and monogenean biological labelling. The size of the host species accounted for 77% of the variation in the number of parasite species per host, and host ecology and additional 8%. Together the effects of host size and host ecology accounted for 85% of the variation in monogenean species richness. | Les politiques de libéralisation généralisées en Afrique de l'Ouest dans les années quatre-vingt n'ont pas modifié les formes de structuration anciennes en réseau des opérateurs ouest-africains. Deux études de cas, qui concernent l'importation du riz en Gambie et en Guinée, sa commercialisation et sa réexportation sur le Sénégal et sur le Mali, mettent en évidence les modes d'organisation des acteurs. | Nous avons rencontré, en Afrique de l'Ouest, neuf espèces différentes de #Dogielus$ (#Monogenea, Dactylogyridae$) chez quatre espèces de #Cyprinidae$ du genre #Labeo$ (#L. senegalensis$) Valenciennes, 1842, #L. coubie$ Ruppell, 1832, #L. parvus$ Boulenger, 1902 et une nouvelle espèce #Labeo$ n. sp., dans les bassins du Niger moyen et du Sénégal supérieur. Un seul de ces Monogènes est signalé dans la littérature, #D. tropicus$ Paperna, 1969 que nous avons retrouvé sur #L. senegalensis$. | Background: The development of the secondary palate has been a main topic in craniofacial research, as its failure results in cleft palate, one of the most common birth defects in human. Nevertheless, palatal rugae (or rugae palatinae), which are transversal ridges developing on the secondary palate, received little attention.
