Le projet BIOPOLLATM vise à mieux comprendre les interactions biosphère-atmosphère dans le domaine de la pollution atmosphérique. On cherche (1) à comprendre les modalités d’impacts de plusieurs polluants sur le fonctionnement des plantes et (2) le rôle de la biosphère comme source et puits dans la pollution atmosphérique locale et régionale. Des observations à l’aide de microscopes électronique à balayage et optique, appuyées par des analyses élémentaires au moyen d’un système EDXA, ont révélé que les points-images saturés en niveau de gris, constatés dans les négatifs de radiographies de bois de chêne sessile (Quercus petraea Liebl.), étaient dus à des dépôts inorganiques présents à l’intérieur des cellules parenchymateuses des rayons ligneux multisériés et du parenchyme axial. Répartition et variations du potassium et du calcium dans différentes coupes transversales d'aiguilles de Picea abies (L) Karst et de feuilles de Fagus sylvatica (L) soumis à de l'ozone et à une sécheresse modérée. Deux clones d'épicéas âgés de 8 ans et des hêtres ont été plantés directement dans le sol dans des chambres à ciel ouvert ; ils ont été soumis à des concentrations élevées d'ozone et à un stress hydrique modéré. Les variations et la répartition des éléments minéraux ont été étudiées. Les teneurs en potassium et calcium chez les 2 clones augmentent dans les traitements de fumigation ; en revanche chez le hêtre les teneurs en potassium diminuent. Une large diversité intra-spécifique et un fort contrôle génétique ont été mis en évidence pour Δ13C (discrimination isotopique du carbone) dans une famille de chêne pédonculé (Quercus robur L.). Δ13C est un estimateur de l’efficience intrinsèque d’utilisation de l’eau (Wi), un caractère complexe défini comme le rapport entre l’assimilation nette de CO2 (A) et la conductance stomatique pour la vapeur d’eau (gs). Drought responses in Populus euphratica: effects on water relations, growth, hydraulic properties and gas exchange Inra

Populus euphratica species is famous for its ability to cope with high salinity. Moreover, its distribution area comprises deserts with very hot and dry summers (and very cold winters). All species of the Populus genus are know to be drought sensitive and a phreatophytic be-haviour of P. euphratica may explain its ability to grow in such dry areas. In this experiment, we studied the ecophysiological responses of P. euphratica to an increasing drought stress. Transcriptional regulation plays a major role in regulating many biological processes, we looked for gene expression networks related to drought stress. Physiological study of declining Pinus cembra (L.) trees in southern France Inra

Pinus cembra (L.) trees growing at an elevation of 1,800 m in the Mercantour Alps National Park in southern France have shown various degrees of damage (yellowing and needle loss) since the early 1980s. Two stands were selected, one populated by healthy and the other by damaged trees, and 1-year-old needles were analysed. The needles of the declining trees displayed chlorotic mottled patterns associated with a significantly lower level of total chlorophyll compared to healthy trees. Quantitative trait loci controlling water use efficiency and related traits in Quercus robur L. Inra

Genetic variation for intrinsic water use efficiency (W i) and related traits was estimated in a full-sib family of Quercus robur L. over 3 years. The genetic linkage map available for this F1 family was used to locate quantitative trait loci (QTL) for W i, as estimated by leaf carbon stable isotope composition (δ 13C) or the ratio of net CO2 assimilation rate (A) to stomatal conductance to water vapour (g w) and related leaf traits.
