A new corticicolous species of the genus Tubulicium (Polyporales) from Southern Spain. Naturalis
Moreno, G.; Esteve-Raventós, F..
A new Tubulicium species from Mediterranean evergreen forests of southern Spain is described, viz. Tubulicium papillatosporum G. Moreno & Esteve-Rav. Biodiversity indicators in organic and conventional farming systems: main results from the European project BIOBIO Organic Eprints
Sarthou, Jean-Pierre; Choisis, J.-P.; Amossé, A.; Arndorfer, M.; Bailey, D.; Balázs, K.; Balent, G.; Deconchat, M.; Dennis, P.; Eiter, S.; Fjellstad, W.; Friedel, J.K.; Jeanneret, Philippe; Jongman, R.H.B; Kainz , M.; Moreno, G.; Ouin, A.; Paoletti, Maurizio G.; Pointereau, Philippe; Stoyanova, S.; Viaggi, Davide; Vialatte, A.; Wolfrum, S.; Herzog, Felix.
In the framework of the European project BIOBIO, we compared between countries habitat and cumulated species richnesses of plants, wild bees, spiders and earthworms, measured in 169 conventional and organic farms belonging to 10 case studies in 10 European countries. For the French case study (Gascony Valleys and Hills), correlations between direct (habitat and taxonomic richnesses) and indirect (agricultural practices) indicators of biodiversity within 8 conventional and 8 organic farms, were calculated. Results showed that the main driver of biodiversity at the farm level was the number of cultivated and above all semi-natural habitats, inthe French case study region as well as inthe other regions. This factor partially explained the highest biodiversity...

A study of the macroscopic and microscopic characters of type materials of Tulostoma macrosporum, T. meridionale and T. utahense is presented. The synonymy of the two latter species, that was proposed some years ago, is now verified. Tulostoma macrosporum is very close to them, but shows enough differential features to be maintained as an autonomous species. SEM photographs of the spore ornamentation are provided.

Silvoarable systems in Europe - past, present and future prospects Inra
Eichhorn, M.P.; Paris, P.; Herzog, F.; Incoll, L.D.; Liagre, F.; Mantzanas, K.; Mayus, M.; Moreno, G.; Papanastasi, V.P.; Pilbeam, D.J.; Pisanelli, A.; Dupraz, C..
Mixed systems of agriculture incorporating combinations of trees and crops have formed key elements of the landscape of Europe throughout historical times, and many such systems continue to function in the present day. In many cases they represent formerly widespread traditional systems in decline and a number have already become extinct or exist only in a threatened state. The causes are both practical and economic. The agricultural subsidy regime within the European Union is presently unfavourable towards silvoarable practices, which has been a major factor in their recent decline. The silvoarable systems of Europe can be split into two classes according to location – northern Europe and the Mediterranean. The latter contains not only a greater area of...
