EFECTO DE LA ADICIÓN DE BIOSOLIDOS URBANOS Y DE SALMONICULTURA SOBRE LA GERMINACIÓN DE SEMILLAS DE LECHUGA (Lactuca sativa L.) EN UN SUELO PATAGONICO R.C. Suelo Nutr. Veg.
Celis,José; Sandoval,Marco; Zagal,Erick; Briones,Mario.

Effect of Irrigation Levels on Dissolved Organic Carbon Soil Distribution and the Depth Mobility of Chlorpyrifos Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Junod,Julio; Zagal,Erick; Sandoval,Marco; Barra,Ricardo; Vidal,Gladys; Villarroel,Mario.
Water flows provided by irrigation systems may be associated with dissolved organic carbon (DOC) content in the soil solution and may modify the mobility of pesticides, such as chlorpyrifos (CHP). These compounds were analyzed under field conditions, evaluating their distribution in the soil profile under excessive irrigation in a Humic Haploxerand soil. The trial was carried out in soil columns located under the canopy of apple trees (Malus domestica Borkh.) in an orchard located in the Bío-Bío Region, Chile. The insecticide CHP was applied 120 g hL-1, and later the natural run off was collected from the foliage to the columns. Surface irrigation was used as a control, the equivalent to 4 L h-1 weekly, plus two treatments over the columns of 6 and 8 L h-1...

Effect of organic and mineral amendments upon soil respiration and microbial biomass in a saline-sodic soil Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Celis,José E; Sandoval,Marco; Martínez,Bárbara; Quezada,Celerino.
J.E. Celis, M. Sandoval, B. Martínez, and C. Quezada. 2013. Effect of organic and mineral amendments upon soil respiration and microbial biomass in a saline-sodic soil. Cien. Inv. Agr. 40(3): 571-580. An understanding of soil carbon stocks and fluxes in saline-sodic soils is becoming critical in environmental management because salinity and sodicity are predicted to increase worldwide. The effects of amendment with sewage sludge (SW), mined gypsum (MG) and synthetic gypsum (SG) on the soil respiration rate and soil (S) microbial biomass (SMB) of a saline-sodic soil were assessed in vitro over 60 days under controlled conditions. The treatments were: T1 = S + MG (7 t ha-1); T2 = S + MG (7 t ha-1) + SW (90 t ha-1); T3 = S + SG (7 t ha-1); T4 = S + SG (7 t...

Estimation of leaching flow using a gee passive capillary lysimeter under controlled conditions Agrociencia
Lahuathe,Braulio; Rivera,Diego; Arumi,José; Sandoval,Marco.
Knowledge of the dynamic of water in the soil is essential to estimate both the movement of nutrients from the unsaturated to the saturated zone and groundwater contamination. The objective of this study was to compare drained water data from a Gee Passive Capillary Lysimeter (GPCL; Decagon Devices Inc, Pullman, USA) with model simulations in a soil column. Two experiments were set with the GPCL with different sensor settings and initial moisture content. Preliminary evaluation of the measured data was compared with data simulated by a soil-water model (CRITERIA BdP). The first experiment (GPCL1, soil column with disturbed soil and dry soil as initial condition) generated reliable data. The second experiment (GPCL2, soil column with disturbed soil with wet...

Influence of Conservation Tillage and Soil Water Content on Crop Yield in Dryland Compacted Alfisol of Central Chile Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Martinez G,Ingrid; Ovalle,Carlos; Del Pozo,Alejandro; Uribe,Hamil; Valderrama V,Natalia; Prat,Christian; Sandoval,Marco; Fernández,Fernando; Zagal,Erick.
Chilean dryland areas of the Mediterranean climate region are characterized by highly degraded and compacted soils, which require the use of conservation tillage systems to mitigate water erosion as well as to improve soil water storage. An oat (Avena sativa L. cv. Supernova-INIA) - wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Pandora-INIA) crop rotation was established under the following conservation systems: no tillage (Nt), Nt + contour plowing (Nt+Cp), Nt + barrier hedge (Nt+Bh), and Nt + subsoiling (Nt+Sb), compared to conventional tillage (Ct) to evaluate their influence on soil water content (SWC) in the profile (10 to 110 cm depth), the soil compaction and their interaction with the crop yield. Experimental plots were established in 2007 and lasted 3 yr till...

Plant Response to Salmon Wastes and Sewage Sludge Used as Organic Fertilizer on Two Degraded Soils Under Greenhouse Conditions Chilean J. Agric. Res.
Celis,José; Sandoval,Marco; Barra,Ricardo.
The potential toxicity of urban sewage and farmed salmon sludge, as well as their fertilizer potential, was evaluated by a battery of tests carried out with lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) cv. Winter Star. Wastes were evaluated in a Patagonian soil (Andic cryofluvent) and a granitic soil (Ultic Palexeralf). The treatments were municipal sewage sludge (MSS), salmon ground-farming waste (PSW) and salmon lake-farming waste (LSW) at different rates: 25, 50, 75, 100 and 150 t ha-1. Bioassays in lettuce were conducted for germination index (GI), radicle and hypocotyl structure length. Test in ryegrass were conducted for aboveground biomass yield. The phytotoxicological results from Patagonian soil showed significant...

VARIABILIDAD ASOCIADA A LA DETERMINACIÓN DE RESIDUOS DE CLORPIRIFOS AL SER APLICADO EN UN HUERTO DE MANZANOS R.C. Suelo Nutr. Veg.
Junod,Julio; Zagal,Erick; Sandoval,Marco; Venegas,Alejandro; Campos,Jorge; Radrigan,Rudi; Barra,Ricardo; Vidal,Gladys.
