Résumé : Des tests organoleptiques, physiques, chimiques et bactériologiques ont été effectués sur trois espèces de poissons de mer de Mauritanie : Syacium microrum (poisson plat) ; Pseudupeneus prayensis (poisson maigre) et Trachurus trachurus (poisson gras) stockés sous glace (0°C) et à température ambiante 22-28°C). Vingt quatre heures après leur capture, les poissons placés à température ambiante étaient déjà putrides (la flore dépassait 1010 UFC/g. Les lots conservés sous glace étaient encore consommables après deux semaines de stockage. La glace retarde bien les phénomènes de vieillissement du poisson.

To investigate the potential influence of antigen (Ag) presentation on the immune response to MSP1 19, the 19 kDa C-terminal domain of the #Plasmodium falciparum$ MSP1 Ag, 3 recombinant MSP 19 Ags expressed in baculovirus, #E. coli$ and #Saccharomyces cerevisiae$ were used to stimulate in vitro peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCS) from #P. falciparum$ immune adults with no recent history of clinical malaria. Donors were recruited in 2 senegalese villages (Dielmo and Ndiop), where malaria transmission is perennial and seasonal, respectively. Reducing the oral quinine-quinidine-cinchonin (Quinimax) treatment of uncomplicated malaria to three days does not increase the recurrence of attacks among children living in a highly endemic area of Senegal IRD

A 3 d shortened course of the quinine-quinidine-cinchonin association Quinimax (trademark) was compared to the usual 7 d regimen for routinely treating 462 acute uncomplicated #Plasmodium falciparum$ malaria attacks in 72 children under the age of 10 years in Dielmo, a holoendemic village in Senegal. 25 mg/kg Quinimax (trademark) salt daily, given in 3 equal doses, improved clinical status in 99.6% of the patients receiving the course and in all of those treated for 7 d. Even if the 3 d course did not systematically eliminate parasitaemia, reducing oral Quinimax (trademark) treatment of uncomplicated malaria from 7 to 3 d did not increase the recurrence of attacks, even among the youngest children. La sensibilité in vitro de 229 isolats de #Plasmodium falciparum$ prélevés dans la région de Fatick, Sénégal, a été étudiée vis-à-vis de 6 anti-paludiques classiques (chloroquine, cycloguanil, quinine, méfloquine, halofantrine et pyriméthamine) en utilisant le semi-microtest de Le Bras et Deloron dans sa version isotopique. Sur ces 229 souches, 39 % sont résistantes à la chloroquine (Cl 50 > 100 nM), 16 % au cycloguanil (Cl 50 > 500 nM), 1 % à la quinine (Cl 50 > 500 nM), 15 % à la méfloquine (Cl 50 > 20 nM), 10 % à l'halofantrine (Cl 50 > 5 nM) et 18 % à la pyriméthamine (Cl 50 > 2000 nM). Cependant, nous ne disposons pour le Sénégal que de résultats fragmentaires. Traitement oral des accès palustres simples par la quinine : comparaison des cures de 3 et 7 jours IRD

En cas de résistance de #Plasmodium falciparum$ aux amino-4-quinoléines et à la sulfadoxine-pyriméthamine, le traitement oral des accès palustres simples par la quinine peut avoir un intérêt en zone de forte endémie. La cure classique de 7 jours est cependant astreignante, relativement onéreuse et entraîne des effets secondaires (cinchonisme). Pour améliorer l'acceptabilité de ce traitement, nous avons comparé l'efficacité d'une cure courte de 3 jours par 25 mg/kg/jour de Quinimax (association de quinine, quinidine et cinchonine) à celle d'une cure de 7 jours au cours d'un essai thérapeutique randomisé portant sur 462 accès palustres simples à #Plasmodium falciparum$ chez 72 enfants âgés de moins de 10 ans.
