Irrigated paddy fields are the rice growing areas having high yield potential. Two significant factors enhancing high yield are the well-adapted variety and appropriate management. PSL05101-93-1-32 is a promising rice line derived from the 3-way cross of PSL00508-3-1-1-4/IR66738-118-1-2//IR67966-188-2-2-1 in 2005. It has as high yield potential as 965 kg/rai (6.03 t/ha). The average grain yield is 730 kg/rai, greater than PSL2, CNT1 and RD47 varieties by 14, 13 and 7%, respectively. The maturity is 115 days after sowing by transplanting method. Plant height is 83-90 cm. This promising line is a non-glutinous long grain rice having straw-color husk. RDH1 is the first hybrid rice variety being released by Rice Department. It is ideal for irrigated areas due to it’s high yield characteristics. Despite the high yield, seed production procedures of hybrid rice are more complicated than the normal ones as hand transplanting is needed. Procedures start from transplanting two sowing dates of male parental line JN43-1-5-5-1-3-1 (R-line) prior to that of the female one, IR79156A (A-line). Furthermore, flag leaf has to be cut off and hand-pollination is needed. The flag leaf cutting leads to the occurrence of dirty panicle disease and therefore the application of fungicide. CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 is a short-growth duration rice variety which is suitable for growing in the rain-fed area. This rice variety derived from CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2, a product ofthe crossing of three cultivars; i.e. Suphanburi 1, IR64 and CNT86074-25-9-1(Suphanburi1/IR64//CNT86074-25-9-1), that still expressed its genetic diversity while it was growing in a breeder seeds production field. This leaded to the selection of the elite lines, CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 which had an early maturation and short growth duration so that it could be harvested shortly at about 92 days after sowing. CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 was a short-growth duration rice variety which was suitable for irrigated area encountered flooding in raining season. This rice variety derived from three–way cross of Suphanburi 1 /IR64//CNT86074-25-9-1. CNT96024-61-1-PSL-1-2-20-2 had maturity short growth duration so that it could be early harvested at about 87 days after sowing in wet season and 96 days in dry season. It had recorded yield potential of 1,004 kg/rai with the average yields of 681 kg/rai, which was comparable with the RD41 (742 kg/ rai), but 2% higher than that of RD43 (666 kg./rai). Seed drying is one of the most important processes of seed production in rice. The purpose for reduce seed moisture without any effects on seed quality. The continuous-flow drier need higher temperature than bacth drier for increased drying rate was used in this experiment. In2008 at Pichit province, Five Experiments were conducted on 12 tons continuous-flow driers to find out the effected of temperature on quality of PSL2 and RD29 rice seed under different levels of temperature including 45, 50, 55 45 followed by 50 and 50 followed by 55°c compared with sun drying method. The Sirindhorn Chaipattana Agricultural Development Project is situated at Nern Makok Subdistrict, Bang Moon Nark District, Phichit Province. It was established in 2007. Phitsanulok Rice Research Center has a major responsibility for a sub-project called Quality Rice Seed Production in the area of 26 rai (9.16 ha). The main objectives are to produce a seed source and being a center of technology transfer for farmers in the area. Targets consist of producing 30 tons of foundation seed and providing a training course for 120 farmers/year. Four to five photo-insensitive rice varieties are planted 2 crops/year.
