Adsorption and desorption of monomeric Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) Cry1Aa toxin on montmorillonite and kaolinite Inra

Genetically modified crops, which produce pesticidal proteins from Bacillus thuringiensis, release the toxins into soils through root exudates and upon decomposition of crop residues. Although the phenomena of gene transfer and emergence of resistance have been well documented, the fate of these toxins in sail has not yet been clearly elucidated. The aim of this study was to elucidate the adsorption and the desorbability of the Cry1Aa Bt insecticidal protein in contact with two sodium-saturated clays: montmorillonite and kaolinite. Analyse des mécanismes d'adsorption et de désorption du fer ferreux dans les milieux saturés IRD

Des cinétiques d'adsorption et de désorption du fer ferreux par le sol ont été effectuées lors d'expériences réalisées en hypoxie. Les résultats obtenus, complétés par des mesures de Eh, de pH ainsi que de l'échangéabilité du fer adsorbé, aboutissent à une caractérisation de l'adsorption. Ils mettent en évidence une certaine réversibilité de l'adsorption du fer ferreux. Les comportements différents des échantillons étudiés démontrent l'existence d'intéractions à l'interface sol-solution dépendant des teneurs et de la nature des constituants du sol et plus particulièrement des argiles

High sorption of phenanthrene in agricultural soils Inra

We studied the sorption and desorption of 14C-labelled phenanthrene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, on soils, both in thelaboratory using batch experiments and during 6 months of natural conditions using lysimeters. The laboratory results show that phenanthrene is strongly adsorbed, yielding empirical constants of sorption isotherms Kf of 163 for the clay soil and of 77 for the sandy loam soil. This result is unexpected because phenanthrene has a relatively high water solubility of 1.1 mg/L. Phenanthrene is also poorly desorbed, as shown by leaching of only 30% of initially sorbed phenanthrene. Polar interactions in flavan-3-ol adsorption on solid surfaces Inra

The adsorption of flavan-3-ol monomers and grape seed procyanidin fractions of different mean degrees of polymerization was studied on three surfaces by means of adsorption isotherms. Reversibility upon dilution was also investigated. These surfaces were three polymeric microfiltration membranes, presenting close Lifshitz-van der Waals components of their surface tension but differing in their surface polar properties. The electron-donor character of the surface was of primary importance for the adsorption of nongalloylated monomers. Increasing the number of phenolic rings above two (galloylated monomers and procyanidins) sharply enhanced flavan-3-ol affinity for surfaces whatever their polarity.
