Background and Aims To understand whether root responses to aerial rhythmic growth and contrasted defoliation treatments can be interpreted under the common frame of carbohydrate availability; root growth was studied in parallel with carbohydrate concentrations in different parts of the root system on oak tree seedlings. Methods Quercus pubescens seedlings were submitted to selective defoliation (removal of mature leaves, cotyledons or young developing leaves) at appearance of the second flush and collected 1, 5 or 10 d later for morphological and biochemical measurements. Crioconservacion de meristemos apicales de plantas in vitro de cana de azucar mediante el metodo de encapsulacion/deshidratacion IRD

Les méristèmes apicaux de 3 variétés de canne à sucre (B34104, C8751, C26670), prélevés sur des vitroplants, peuvent supporter la congélation dans l'azote liquide (-196°C) grâce à la technique d'encapsulation/déshydratation, basée sur la technologie des semences artificielles. Après dissection, les méristèmes, encapsulés dans des billes avec un milieu MS modifié et 3% d'alginate, sont déshydratés par une préculture de 24H en milieu liquide avec une forte concentration en saccharose (0.75M) puis une exposition pendant 4H dans le courant d'air d'une hotte à flux laminaire. Cryopreservation of apices of Coffea racemosa and Coffea sessiliflora using the encapsulation/dehydration technique IRD

Pour la conservation des graines, le caféier est classifié comme récalcitrant puisque les semences de cette espèce ne restent viables que pendant les durées très limitées. Les ressources génétiques de cette espèce sont donc conservées sous forme de collections en champ. Des vitrothèques sont en cours de mise en place afin de permettre leur conservation à moyen terme. Pour la conservation à long terme, la cryoconservation (azote liquide, -196°c) est la seule méthode disponible actuellement. Avec les apex, les essais ont été réalisés en utilisant la méthode d'encapsulation/déshydratation. O objetivo desta proposta é aproveitar o conhecimento técnico existente no Brasil para expandir a capacidade cientifica ao uso de novas ferramentas para modelagem ambiental, tais como o SWAT e APEX, com isso ampliar e refinar os conhecimentos dos biomas brasileiros e suas principais culturas agrícolas, buscando assim o entendimento da ligação entre o uso da terra e a uso dos recursos hídricos na região.

Les apex de microboutures #in vitro$ de #Coffea racemosa$ et #C. sessiliflora$ supportent la congélation dans l'azote liquide en utilisant la technique d'encapsulation-déshydratation. Une accumulation intense d'amidon est notée après une nuit de culture des apex sur le milieu standard. Les apex de #C. sessiliflora$ nécessitent 3 à 10 jours de préculture dans un milieu liquide contenant 0,75 M de saccharose, tandis que ceux de #C. racemosa$ nécessitent une augmentation progressive de la concentration en saccharose de 0,5 à 1 M. Après la période de déshydratation, les cellules de certains apex sont très endommagées, présentant des granules osmophiles sur la surface du plasmalemme. The development of the field-scale Erosion Productivity Impact Calculator (EPIC) model was initiated in 1981 to support assessments of soil erosion impacts on soil productivity for soil, climate, and cropping conditions representative of a broad spectrum of U.S. agricultural production regions. The first major application of EPIC was a national analysis performed in support of the 1985 Resources Conservation Act (RCA) assessment. The Agricultural Policy Environmental eXtender (APEX) model was developed by the Blacklands Research and Extension Center in Temple, Texas. APEX is a flexible and dynamic tool that is capable of simulating a wide array of management practices, cropping systems, and other land use across a broad range of agricultural landscapes, including whole farms and small watersheds. The model can be configured for novel land management strategies, such as filter strip impacts on pollutant losses from upslope cropfields, intensive rotational grazing scenarios depicting movement of cows between paddocks, vegetated grassed waterways in combination with filter strip impacts, and land application of manure removal from livestock feedlots or waste storage ponds.
