Biologie du ceteau, Dicologoglossa cuneata (Moreau). Ethologie alimentaire. ArchiMer
Lagardere, Françoise.
The study of the feeding behavior of D.cuneata (Moreau)(Soleidae, Pleuronectiformes), and the structure of the alimentary tract, show that this sp is a predator of benthic invertebrates or invertebrate fragments wrecked. According to the increasing depth and the progressive decrease of water movements, its food preference is fragments of adult Bivalvia, Polychaeta and Amphipoda. In this work, the feeding behavior is studied in relation to age, sex and state of sexual maturity. 3 patterns of seasonal bathymetric movements are proposed. (1) Anadromous trophic migration which takes place during sprig with movements towards the coast due to the warming of the waters. (2) Catadromous genetic migration, concerning in summer adults only. (3) In winter, the whole...

Contribution a l'etude des mammiferes marins de la cote nord-ouest Afrique. ArchiMer
Duguy, R..
About 20 spp of marine mammals are actually known for the fauna of the north- west African coast (Rio de Oro, Mauritanie, Senegal). This large number of spp seems to be related to cold water areas connected with the 'upwelling' effect. New data, recently collected, mainly during the summer cruise (1973) of the 'Thalassa', supply new information about the distribution of some spp. Souza teuszil shows a northern limit of its range at {approx} 20 {degree}N (Banc d'Arguin) and Stenella longirostris at {approx} 16{degree}15 N. The common porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) seems to be more frequent in Mauritanian waters than in Morrocan ones, and Orcinus orca is commonly observed between Cap Blanc and Cap Timiris. In July and Sept newborn pups of the monk seal...

Etude des stades juveniles de Paraholtbyrnia cyanocephala Krefft, 1967. Poissons, Searsiides Clupeiformes. ArchiMer
Quero, Jean-claude.
the author describes the juvenile stages of the P.cyanocephala Krefft, 1967. He shows that they differ from the other juvenile searsiids of the North-Eastern and Middle-Eastern Atlantic mainly by the yellowish-white pigmentation sp otter with very dark-coloured dots visible only on the encephalon of the youngest specimens (24 mm) and then over the whole body of the bigger ones (33 mm). Moreover the observations made on the light-organs development of the P.cyanocephala confirm those made on all the spp of this fam in possession of such organs. During growth, the light-organs of juvenile stages either lose their importance while changing orientation or they disappear, while a light-organ of different orientation appears in their place.

Genome-wide distribution of allele-specific expression in Nelore steers muscle. Repositório Alice

The difference between the allelic expression of a gene is known as allele-specific expression (ASE), and it is a common event in mammal?s transcriptome. ASE is named genomic imprinting when guided by epigenetics mechanisms regarding the allele parental origin.

Observations sur le captage et la croissance de l'huitre creuse ouest-africaine, Crassostrea gasar , en Casamance, Senegal ArchiMer
Gilles, S.
The study was carried out at two sites, the island of Carabane, near the ocean, and the village of Djivent, 60 km by water-way from the mouth of the Casamance River. On the first site, the rise of water temperature commands the spat fall from March to October with a maximum peak in July. Because of a heavy biological competition, oysters can only survive within the intertidal zone. On the second site from August to November, which corresponds with the end of the rainy season, the decrease of salinity induces spawning and settlement of young oysters. Because of the heavy salinity variations there is a weak biological competition and young oyster can easily survive in permanent immersion as within the intertidal zone. On both sites, the growth is linear but...

Maurin, Claude; Quero, Jean-claude.
The fish species captured in 1962, 1968, 1970 and 1973 by the fishing boat Thalassa, on the coasts of Canary Islands, Mauritania and Senegal are enumerated. Data on the date and the place of the captures, on the morphology and the ecology of the captured fishes, and on the depth of the captures are given.

Deniel, Christian.
Diets of scald-fish a.thori and A.imperialis have been studied with the stomach contents of fish caught with a beam trawl on 5 different sedimentary areas of the Douarnenez bay. the food of A.thori is mainly composed of small Crustaceans (Amphipods, mysidaceans, shrimps). A.imperialis feed mainly on fish, especially Callionymus lyra L. A.thori live on fine sand, A.imperialis on coarse sand and gravel.

Talismania grandisquamis sp.nov. Poissons, Clupeiformes, Alepocephalides, espece nouvelle de l'Atlantique centre-est. ArchiMer
Quero, Jean-claude.
The author describes a new alepocephaliid fish of the gen Talismania Goode and Bean, 1895 from the waters along the coast of north-west Africa. The new sp T.grandisquamis differs from T.homoptera (Vaillant, 1888) and T.oregoni Parr, 1952 by the highly developed pectoral ray and from T.longifilis (Brauer, 1902) and T.bifurcata (Parr, 1951) by the larger scales, only about 47 in a longitudinal series, and about 13 in a transverse count.
