La réaction des juvéniles de deuxième stade (J2) d'#Heterodera schachtii$ aux exsudats radiculaires et des mâles aux phéromones produites par les femelles à des distances variées de la source d'attraction, est étudiée en analysant l'orientation des traces laissées à la surface de l'agar. Deux types de J2 ont été testés : des J2 stimulés - précédemment soumis à des exsudats radiculaires - et des non stimulés. Les longueurs des traces ont été quantifiées de façon à différencier les comportements de recherche orientés et non orientés. La quantification des mouvements dirigés vers le gradient, ou à l'opposé de celui-ci, conséquence de chaque mouvement de recul, permet de différencier les effets attractifs et répulsifs. Attraction of Cacoecimorpha pronubana male moths to blends of four sex pheromone components was studied in the wind tunnel.Z11–14:Ac alone did not elicit upwind flight, admixture of 10%Z11–14:OH or more led to successful attraction of males to the source. Attractivity of these binary blends was further enhanced by addition ofE11–14:Ac orZ9–14:Ac; the optimum was a blend ofZ11–14:Ac,Z11–14ratioOH,E11–14:Ac, andZ9–14r:Ac at the proportion of 100:30:3:3. In ternary and quaternary blends, the effect ofZ11–14:OH andE11–14:Ac was strongest at 30% and 3%, respectively. By contrast,Z9–14:Ac increased behavioral responses over a wide range.

Floral volatiles of Tanacetum vulgare L. attractive to Lobesia botrana Den. et Schiff. females Inra

The European grapevine moth (EGVM), Lobesia botrana, is a major pest of grapes in Europe. Females are attracted to a nonhost plant: tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.), which is a common weed in Slovakian vineyards. A steam distillate extract of tansy flowers was analyzed by means of a GC-EAG technique to screen constituents detected by the olfactory receptors of EGVM females. From more than 200 GC peaks, nine peaks corresponding to monoterpenoids released an EAG response in more than 70% of the females (N=15):p-cymene,d-limonene,α-thujene,α-thujone,β-thujone, thujyl alcohol, terpinene-4-ol, (Z)-verbenol, and piperitone. We studied modulations of flight activity in European grapevine moth females (EGVM) by individual observations in a wind tunnel. The effect of different factors was analyzed: variation in atmospheric pressure prior to the experiments, time of day, first experience of flight, age, mating, and odor of tansy, which attracts females. The circadian flight activity showed a peak the hour preceding the onset of scotophase and sustained activity occurred during the 6 h around this peak. Females with a flight experience in the tunnel took off more quickly than naive ones (3.9 ± 7.4 vs 20.3 ± 22.8 s). Terpene attractant candidates of Dioryctria sylvestrella in maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) oleoresin, needles, liber, and headspace samples Inra

Capillary GC analysis was used to determine the proportion and quantity of terpenes in wood resin, pentane extracts from needles and liber, and headspace samples of needles and pruning wounds in 24 thirteen-year-old maritime pine. Fifteen different terpenes were identified in the samples. Germacrene D and β-pinene were the dominant terpenic compounds in the needles, while α-pinene and β-pinene were dominant in the liber and wood resin. Headspace samples of both needles and pruning wounds contained essentially monoterpenes. Only trace amounts of sesquiterpenes were found in pruning wound emissions. The presence of an oxygenated compound, linalool, in the pruning wound emissions is discussed, although this compound is not found in Maritime pine essential...

Terpene variations in maritime pine constitutive oleoresin related to host tree selection by Dioryctria sylvestrella RATZ. (Lepidoptera : Pyralidae) Inra

Gas chromatographic analysis of the volatile terpenes of the wood oleoresin of maritime pines showed that the relative proportions of terpenes within the same tree did not vary according to sampling height and date. Pruning and tree vigor did not affect terpene profiles, but oleoresin composition varied widely from tree to tree. The trees attacked by Dioryctria sylvestrella contained a significantly higher percentage of limonene, longipinene, and copaene, and a discriminant analysis, using the relative percentage of six terpenes, significantly separated infested and uninfested trees. The olfactory sensitivity of adult moths to a series of 20 volatile chemicals, including maritime pine oleoresin components, was evaluated with the electroantennogram method....
