Activities of selected digestive enzymes during larval development of large yellow croaker (Pseudosciaena crocea) ArchiMer

Large yellow croaker is an important marine fish species for aquaculture in China. Larval rearing of this species is still based on live prey feeding. The aim of this study was to describe the onset and development of the main digestive enzymes during larval development of this species, in order to obtain essential data for the formulation of a compound diet adapted to larvae. Enzymatic assays were conducted from day I post hatching to day 40 in larvae fed the following live prey sequence: rotifers, Artemia nauplii, copepods, and then frozen copepods. Adaptation des enzymes digestives à l'alimentation chez la crevette Penaeus vannamei (Crustacea Decapoda) ArchiMer

L'adaptation des enzymes digestives chez la crevette P. vannamei a été étudiée en fonction des cycles biologiques en relation avec les constituants de l'alimentation principalement les glucides (amidon) et les protéines. La trypsins, la chymotrypsine et 1'amylase, 3 enzymes majeures, chez P. vannamei ont été purifiées et caractérisées. La trypsine est formée de 3 isoenzymes dont le poids moléculaire apparent est compris entre 31 et 3 2 kDa. La nature glycosylée de la trypsine est révélée. La chymotrypsine est formée de 2 isoenzymes de poids moléculaire similaire (24 kDa). L'amylase purifiée est constituée de 2 isoenzymes dont le poids moléculaire apparent est de 31 kDa. Adaptation of digestive enzymes to dietary protein, carbohydrate and fibre levels and influence of protein and carbohydrate quality in Penaeus vannamei larvae (Crustacea, Decapoda) ArchiMer

Activity of digestive enzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin and amylase) was studied in relation with food in Penaeus vannamei larvae first stages. Microparticles containing casein involved the decrease of soluble protein content and enzyme activities. Specific trypsin activity but not chymotrypsin was correlated (p<1%) to casein level between 10 and 60% in microparticles. Cellulose fibres in food seemed to have little effect on digestive enzymes. Starch, between 1 and 20% in microparticles, had no influence on specific amylase activity. The effect of different feeding conditions were also tested on growth. A mandioca (Manihot esculenta Crantz) é uma fonte de carboidrato, que é o componente quantitativamente mais importante das rações para diferentes espécies de animais. Assim, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o teor de compostos ianogênicos, matéria seca, sólidos solúveis e relação amilose/amilopectina de três clones a serem utilizados na produção de farinha de raspa para alimentação animal.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da adição na ração das enzimas digestivas exógenas amilase, lipase e protease sobre o desempenho de tambaqui, em três experimentos independentes. Em cada experimento foi avaliado o efeito da inclusão de uma enzima na ração em diferentes porcentagens: 0,0, 0,05, 0,1 e 0,2%, cada uma com quatro repetições, com 28 dias de duração. Foram realizadas biometrias do peso inicial, para homogeneização da amostra, e do peso final a fim de verificar o efeito dos tratamentos sobre o desempenho dos peixes. Set up a synthetical population of C. gigas, in which whole alleles and genotypes are better represented than in wild population, was done. L'analyse du polymorphisme des gènes de J'amylase chez Crassostrea gigas (Thunberg, 1793) a été établi sur deux générations dans le cadre du programme européen GENEPHYS (génétique et physiologie chez C.gigas). Après une amplification de l'ADN par PCR à partir de deux couples d'amorces qui sont spécifiques à chacun des deux gènes de l'amylase, une digestion par EcoRI de l'ADN amplifié suivie d'une électrophorése en gel d'agarose sont effectuées. Cette technique (RFLP) permet de déterminer le polymorphisme génétique des huîtres creuses. Une troisième génération a été réalisée afin d'obtenir quatre familles et d'en analyser le génotype. Influence of dietary live yeast on European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) larval development ArchiMer

Recent results have demonstrated that live yeast in diets improved gut maturation in sea bass larvae. In this study, we tested the absence and two levels of live yeast in sea bass larvae diets. Specimens were fed from time of mouth opening to 37 days after hatching a diet of 0%, 1.1%, or 5.7% wet weight of live yeast (Debaryomyces hansenii CBS 8339). Yeast incorporation improved survival 10%, and reduced malformed larvae. In groups fed 1.1% yeast, only 1% of larvae were malformed, compared to 14% in the control group. Final mean weight in groups fed 1.1% yeast was twice that of other groups. Vineyards production is often affected by diseases as esca and Petri disease and by excess of salt. Phaeomoniella chlamydospora is one of the pathogenic fungi associated to esca disease, but its interaction with the plant under excess of salt remains unknown. Under controlled in vitro conditions, Vitis vinifera L. plants were exposed to 0, 20 and 100 mM NaCl and inoculated with P. chlamydospora. Both inoculation and salt stress decreased the levels of chlorophylls, which was aggravated when both factors were combined. The effect of tidal emergence on the adenylate energy charge value was studied in Crassostrea gigas oysters in Marennes-Oleron Bay. The shot-term AEC responses to aerial exposure differed according to the period of the year. However, on a long-term basis, osters from three bathymetric positions exhibited the same AEC value, but had a different growth rate. The amylase increase observed for the most emerged oysters may play a role in the maintenance of energy equilibrium.

Simultaneous co-Saccharification and Fermentation of Sago Hampas for Bioethanol Production CIGR Journal

Abundance of lignocellulosic biomass provides a good solution to the demands of energy crops in producing biofuel like biodiesel and bioethanol. In this study, bioethanol was produced from sago hampas via the Simultaneous co-Saccharification and Fermentation (Sc-SF) process, at 2.5% and 5.0% (w/v) solid loadings. The processing step in Sc-SF is virtually similar to that of Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation (SSF). However, during Sc-SF, two enzymes, amylase and cellulase, were added for the co-saccharification of sago starch and fiber. The use of alpha-methyl-D-glucoside, a synthetic analogue of maltose, as inducer of amylase by Aspergillus sp in solid-state and submerged fermentations BJM

The use of a methyl-D-glucoside (alphaMG), a synthetic analogue of maltose, as carbon source and inducer of amylase synthesis to several species of Aspergillus was studied in submerged and solid-state fermentations. Among a group of ten species, A. tamarii, A. fumigatus and A. flavus were able to produce biomass and high specific amylolytic activity in submerged cultures containing alphaMG as the only carbon source. In solid state fermentation, the enrichment of basal wheat bran or corn cob medium with alphaMG increased up to 3 times the production of amylases. In both submerged and solid state fermentations, alphaMG was more effective inducer of amylases than maltose and starch.
