A Novel Path of Communication from Kidney to the Adrenal Gland in Bactrian Camels (Camelus bactrianus) International Journal of Morphology

The adrenal gland is an important endocrine organ in vertebratesthat produces a wide variety of hormones. The anatomical results showed that the adrenal gland in Bactrian camel had a typical blood supply and innervation. Surprisingly, we found that there was a novel connection mainly consisted of fibrous tissue, blood vessels and nerve bundles between the adrenal gland and the kidney in Bactrian camel, and we named it fibrous tissue-blood vessels-nerve bundles (FBN bundle). To the best of our knowledge, this FBN bundle was the first reported in Bactrian camel, and not yet observed in other animals. While, its functions and mechanisms should be studied further. Hidrometra em cabras no Nordeste do Brasil. Repositório Alice

Resumo: Em 217 sistemas genitais de cabras adultas abatidas foram encontrados 21 (9,67%) casos de hidrometria. As femeas eram da raca Morota, Moxoto e do tipo Sem raca Definida (SRD), mantidas em regime de confinamento (grupo A) e em pastagem nativa (grupo B). Tdos os casos caracterizavam-se macroscopicamente pelo aumento de volume e distensao das paredes do utero, devido ao acumulo de um liquido de aspecto aquoso, pH acido, cujo volume variava de 80 a 1600 ml. Microscopicamente as alteracoes encontradas nos uteros eram caracterizadas pelo acentuado grau de atrofia do endometrio. A mucosa e a submmucosa estavam reduzidas e com pouco tecido conjuntivo havendo desaparecimento das pregas da mucosa, cujas celulas epiteliais eram simples e cuboidais. A regiao...

In vitro shoot regeneration from roots and leaf discs of Passiflora cincinnata mast. BABT

Different concentrations of 6-benzyladenine (6-BA) were used in vitro to induce buds in three types of explants: leaf discs, root segments and the seedling itself obtained from in vitro seed germination of Passiflora cincinnata Mast. The 0.5 mg.L -1 6-BA concentration was most suitable for all the three explants, however, bud formation time and means (direct/indirect) were different for each type of explant. In seedlings used as explants, it had shoot regeneration from the primary root. Histological events leading to bud formation via meristemoids were described.
