Avaliação silvicultural de Rapanea ferruginea e Citharexylum myrianthum plantadas em pastagens abandonadas. Repositório Alice
SILVEIRA, S. B.; NEVES, E. J. M.; CARPANEZZI, A. A.; BRITEZ, R. M..

Silvicultural evaluation of Rapanea ferruginea and Citharexylum myrianthum established in abandoned pastures PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Silveira, Sabine Borges; Neves, Edinelson José Maciel; Carpanezzi, Antonio Aparecido; Britez, Ricardo Miranda.
Planting woodlots for ecosystem restoration must be based on silvics and ecological features of the species. This paper deals with silvicultural performance of native Brazilian species Rapanea ferruginea (Ruiz & Pav.) Mez and Citharexylum myrianthum Cham. planted in abandoned pastures in Antonina, coast of Paraná state. Monospecific plots were 69 months old and situated on hill slope and alluvial plain, sharply contrasting on water availability. Rapanea ferruginea showed higher survival and growth in the slope. Concerning to Citharexylum myrianthum, survival values were high and similar in both reliefs, although growth was higher in the plain.

Soil carbon stock and humification in pastures under different levels of intensification in Brazil Scientia Agricola
Segnini,Aline; Xavier,Alfredo Augusto Pereira; Otaviani-Junior,Pedro Luis; Oliveira,Patrícia Perondi Anchão; Pedroso,André de Faria; Praes,Maria Fernanda Ferreira Menegucci; Rodrigues,Paulo Henrique Mazza; Milori,Débora Marcondes Bastos Pereira.
ABSTRACT: Intensive management of tropical pastures has shown potential for greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation due to high forage production and C accumulation in the soil. This study aimed to evaluate different pasture management options in relation to their effect on soil C stocks and soil organic matter (SOM) humification. Pastures in four beef cattle production systems were assessed: intensive and irrigated pasture with high stocking rate (IHS); dryland pasture with high stocking rate (DHS); dryland pasture with moderate stocking rate (DMS); degraded pasture (DP). The soil under the native forest was also evaluated and soil carbon stocks from the 0-100 and 0-30 cm layers were assessed. Carbon stocks (0-100 cm) ranged from 99.88 to 142.33 Mg ha−1 in DP and...

Spatial variability of tree species diversity in a mixed tropical forest in Southern Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
PELISSARI,ALLAN L.; F FILHO,AFONSO; EBLING,ANGELO A.; SANQUETTA,CARLOS R.; CYSNEIROS,VINICIUS C.; CORTE,ANA PAULA D..
Abstract Floristic surveys and diversity indices are often applied to measure tree species diversity in mixed tropical forest remnants. However, these analyses are frequently limited to the overall results and do not allow to evaluate the spatial variability distributions of tree diversity, leading to develop additional tools. This study aimed to estimate the spatial variability of tree diversity and map their spatial patterns in a Brazilian mixed tropical forest conservation area. We used indices to measure the tree species diversity (dbh ≥ 10 cm) in 400 sampling units (25 m x 25 m) from a continuous forest inventory. Semivariograms were fitted to estimate spatial dependences and punctual kriging was applied to compose maps. Mean diversity values were...

Structure and phytogeographic relationships of swamp forests of Southeast Brazil Acta Botanica
Kurtz,Bruno Coutinho; Gomes,Jorge Caruzo; Scarano,Fabio Rubio.
Swamp forests are associated with soils that are saturated or inundated because of a high water table. In Brazil, little is known about the plant ecology of such forests. In this paper, we aimed to describe the phytosociological structure of the tree layer of swamp forests in Restinga de Jurubatiba National Park, in the northern part of the state of Rio de Janeiro, and to evaluate the floristic similarities between these forests and some other possibly related types of vegetation formations in Brazil. The sampling included 84 species, within 62 genera and 34 families. The Shannon diversity index was 3.42, and the Shannon evenness index was 0.77. The forests studied showed an oligarchic structure; Tapirira guianensis, Calophyllum brasiliense and Protium...

Updates on extratropical region climbing plant flora: news regarding a still-neglected diversity Acta Botanica
Durigon,Jaqueline; Sperotto,Patrícia; Ferreira,Priscila Porto Alegre; Dettke,Greta Aline; Záchia,Renato Aquino; Farinaccio,Maria Ana; Seger,Guilherme Dubal dos Santos; Miotto,Silvia Teresinha Sfoggia.
ABSTRACT Most studies concerning climbing plants have focused on lianas, forest ecosystems, and tropical regions. Thus, the majority of existing information is not relevant to all climbing plants (lianas and vines) or all ecoregions of the world (forested and non-forested). We provide an update on floristic and distributional data available for climbing plants in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state, which is located within subtropical and temperate zones and includes a variety of forest and non-forest vegetation types. A total of 448 climbing plant species were confirmed and documented by voucher specimens, revealing a diversity similar to that registered for trees in the state (533). The significant contribution of climbing species to the...
