Little is known about gaseous carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) emissions from traditional terrace agriculture in irrigated high mountain agroecosystems of the subtropics. In an effort towards filling this knowledge gap measurements of carbon dioxide (CO_2), methane (CH_4), ammonia (NH_3) and dinitrous oxide (N_2O) were taken with a mobile photoacoustic infrared multi-gas monitor on manure-filled PE-fibre storage bags and on flood-irrigated untilled and tilled fields in three mountain oases of the northen Omani Al Jabal al Akhdar mountains. Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of different mineral supplements on methane emission of sheep grazing in Caatinga ecosystem. An experiment in a completely randomized design, in which 15 Santa Inês crossbred sheep (19.3 kg) were randomly assigned to one of three treatments: mineral salt for sheep (control; SALTMC), mineral salt with addition of 750 ppm of zinc per animal (SALTMZn) and mineral salt supplied with 2.5 ml of propylene glycol per kg of metabolic body weight (BW0.75; SALTMPeg). Experimental Study of Mixed Gas Hydrates from Gas Feed Containing CH4, CO2 and N2: Phase Equilibrium in the Presence of Excess Water and Gas Exchange ArchiMer

This article presents gas hydrate experimental measurements for mixtures containing methane (CH 4 ), carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) and nitrogen (N 2 ) with the aim to better understand the impact of water (H 2 O) on the phase equilibrium. Some of these phase equilibrium experiments were carried out with a very high water-to-gas ratio that shifts the gas hydrate dissociation points to higher pressures. This is due to the significantly different solubilities of the different guest molecules in liquid H 2 O. A second experiment focused on CH 4 -CO 2 exchange between the hydrate and the vapor phases at moderate pressures. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of N fertilization and the presence of N2 fixing leguminous trees on soil fluxes of greenhouse gases. For a one year period, we measured soil fluxes of nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), related soil parameters (temperature, water-filled pore space, mineral nitrogen content, N mineralization potential) and litterfall in two highly fertilized (250 kg N ha−1 year−1) coffee cultivation: a monoculture (CM) and a culture shaded by the N2 fixing legume species Inga densiflora (CIn). The knowledge of the phase behavior of carbon dioxide (CO2)-rich mixtures is a key factor to understand the chemistry and migration of natural volcanic CO2 seeps in the marine environment, as well as to develop engineering processes for CO2 sequestration coupled to methane (CH4) production from gas hydrate deposits. In both cases, it is important to gain insights into the interactions of the CO2-rich phase—liquid or gas—with the aqueous medium (H2O) in the pore space below the seafloor or in the ocean. Se realizaron tres experimentos en biorreactores acoplados a trampas de gas para evaluar el efecto de Saccharomyces cerevisiae y fumarato de sodio en la fermentación in vitro de alfalfa. En el primero se evaluó la fermentación de alfalfa en medio de cultivo glucosa, celobiosa, almidón y fluido ruminal (GCAFR) usando trampas de gas con agua, solución salina ácida y solución de NaOH. Se midió producción de biogás, CH4, CO2, pH y bacterias totales (BT). El diseño experimental fue completamente al zar con arreglo factorial 2 x 3, y tres repeticiones por tratamiento. Measurement of methane emission from rice production systems is a methodology for data collection of Carbon Footprint from rice production system. Four major rice production systems were defined for methane emission measurement in 2012, including upland rice, rainfed rice, irrigated rice with good agricultural practices (GAP) and irrigated rice with alternative wet and dry (AWD). Gas samples were taken one week interval and analyzed by Gas Chromatograph; GC-8A as soon as possible after collection. The research found that upland rice could absorb CH4 at the rate of 0.176 kg methane rai-1 season-1.
