Cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum Schum.) tem a produção de frutos bastante afetada, quando atacada pela doença vassoura de bruxa, causada pelo fungo Crinipellis perniciosa (Stahel) Singer. Com o intuito de se estudar as alterações bioquímicas em plantas infectadas, folhas sadias e doentes foram analisadas quanto ao conteúdo de açúcares solúveis, amido, proteinas, clorofila, fenóis solúveis totais e taninos. De modo geral, os maiores teores desses compostos foram encontrados em folhas sadias.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of Petit Verdot Extract and hexane, chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions obtained from grape pomace, in addition to identifying active compounds. The PVE and EAF reduced significantly paw edema and neutrophil migration when compared with control groups. The PVE reduced levels of TNF-α and IL1-β in the peritoneal fluid, whereas the EAF did not reduce cytokines significantly. Two hydroxybenzoic acids, two proanthocyanidins, three flavan-3-ol monomers and three anthocyanins were identified in the PVE and EAF by LC-MS/MS. cis-jasmone is a naturally-occurring compound in plants that activates direct and indirect defence in model and crop plants'". Exogenous application of cis-jasmone increases flavonoid concentrations in soybean and affects negatively Anticarsia gemmatalis weight gain. Here, foliar isoflavonoid concentrations were evaluated after cis-jasmone spraying on soybean cultivars BRS l34 and lAC 100, grown at Embrapa Soybean greenhouse facilities. At V) development stage, plants were sprayed with water, Tween 20 + water or cis-jasmone + tween 20 + water. For flavonoid extraction, leaves were collected 12, 24, 48, 96, and 120h after spraying, and immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen, ground in a mortar and extracted in MeOH 90% or EtOH 80% + HCI (0.001 M)....

Phenolic compounds, organic acids and antioxidant activity of grape juices produced from new Brazilian varieties planted in the Northeast Region of Brazil Repositório Alice

The phenolic compounds, organic acids and the antioxidant activity were determined for grape juice samples from new Brazilian varieties grown in the Sub-middle São Francisco Valley in the Northeast Region of Brazil. The results showed that the Brazilian grape juices have high antioxidant activity, which was significantly correlated with the phenolic compounds catechin, epicatechin gallate, procyanidin B1, rutin, gallic acid, caffeic acid, p-coumaric acid, pelargonidin-3-glucoside, cyanidin-3-glucoside, cyaniding-3,5-diglucoside and delphinidin-3-glucoside. The produced juice samples showed higher concentrations of trans-resveratrol than those observed in juices made from different varieties of grapes from traditional growing regions. Organic acids...
