A specimen of a monstrilloid copepod collected by the U.S. Fisheries Steamer “Albatross“ in the Sulu Sea, west coast of Mindanao, Philippines, and deposited in the U.S. National Museum of Natural History, was taxonomically restudied. The specimen had been originally identified as a male of Monstrilla serricornis Sars by C.B. Wilson. Reexamination revealed that the specimen represents a new species of the genus Cymbasoma, C. mcalicei. This species can be distinguished by its body proportions and body size, but mainly by the structure of the genital lappets, which have a serrated posterior margin unique in the genus. This is the seventh species of Cymbasoma reported from East or Southeast Asia. |

STOCK, J. H. 1992. A new species of Hemicyclops (Crustacea, Copepoda, Poecilostomatoida, Clausidiidae) associated with hermit crabs in Curaçao. Stud. Nat. Hist. Caribbean Region 71, Amsterdam 1992: 69-78. Hemicyclops geminatus n. sp. is described from the upper infralittoral zone of Curaçao (Antilles). It is a regular associate of three species of hermit crabs: Calcinus tibicen, Paguristes grayi, and Dardanus venosus. The new taxon appears to be a twin species of Hemicyclops columnaris HUMES, 1984, an associate of a stony coral off the Pacific coast of Panamá. |

A new family Cristacoxidae is proposed to accommodate the monotypic genera Cristacoxa gen. nov., Noodtorthopsyllus Lang (ex Canthocamptidae) and Cubanocleta Petkovski (ex Laophontidae). Cristacoxa petkovskii gen. et spec. nov. is described on the basis of a single male collected from coralline sand of Bonaire, West Indies. N. psammophilus Noodt and C. noodti Petkovski are redescribed and refigured on the basis of new material from the Galápagos (Isla Santa Cruz), the West Indian Islands (Curaçao, Klein Curaçao, Bonaire) and the Canary Islands (El Hierro, Tenerife). The new family is characterised by the presence of an outer spinous process on the first antennular segment, the absence of the antennary exopod, the uniramous mandibular palp, the presence of... |

The goal of this study was to evaluate the concordance amongst three zooplankton groups (Rotifera, Cladocera, and Copepoda) and between the zooplankton groups and the environmental variables in the Luis Eduardo Magalhães reservoir, in the Mid-Tocantins River, Tocantins State, Brazil. Concordance patterns were found in relation to environmental variables, cladocerans, and rotifers, although values were relatively low. These results indicate that one should be cautious about the use of indicative taxonomic groups to detect environmental changes, where divergent results annul extrapolation possibilities and indicate the existence of distinct environmental factors controlling different groups. |

Three new siphonostomatoid copepods are associated with Ophiuroidea in the tropical western Atlantic. Collocheres vervoorti spec. nov., from Ophiothrix angulata in Jamaica, has an elongate, gently tapered genital double-somite in the female and the second segment of leg 5 has a distal outer notch. Collocheres lunulifer spec. nov., an associate of Ophiothrix angulata and Ophiothrix suensonii in Barbados, has sclerotized lunules on the basis and first segment of the endopod of leg 1. Ophiurocheres bellulus gen. nov., spec, nov., living on Ophiomyxa flaccida in Puerto Rico, has the third segment of the exopod of leg 1 armed with 11,2,2 and the second segment of leg 5 bears 2 setae in the female and 3 setae in the male. |
