En el presente trabajo se identificaron mediante técnicas tradicionales (cámaras húmedas, aislamientos en medios de cultivos específicos y cortes de cuerpos fructíferos) hongos que afectaban hojas de Capsicum chinense Jacq., Heliconia sp., Veitichia merrillii Becc., Polianthes tuberosa L., Jatropha curcas L. y Thevethia ahouai A. DC. A partir de muestras foliares de plantas enfermas se obtuvieron ocho cepas de los géneros Curvularia, Alternaria y Helminthosporium. Para el control de estos patógenos se evaluó la efectividad de los fungicidas sistémicos Azoxystrobin, Benomyl, Fosetil aluminio (Fosetil Al), Tiabendazole, Imazalil y Procloraz con un testigo sin aplicación de fungicida. Molecular diagnosis optimization of virus, bacteria and fungi in sugarcane. Repositório Alice

Abstract: Aiming at optimizing the diagnosis of major sugarcane diseases by PCR, primers were developed (scald, orange rust) and amplified fragments according to the literature were used as positive control, such as those caused by: 1 - Bacteria, (ratoon stunting and leaf scald) 2 - Viruses, (yellow leaf, mosaic, mosaic streak and fijivirus) 3-Fungus, (smut, orange rust and curvularia). For diseases with long latency period (leaf scald, ratoon stunting, yellow leaf, mosaic, fijivirus, smut and orange rust), primers were designed for real time PCR. Multi-locus phylogeny and taxonomy of Exserohilum Naturalis

Exserohilum includes a number of plant pathogenic, saprobic and clinically relevant fungi. Some of these species are of great importance in human activities, but the genus has never been revised in a phylogenetic framework. In this study, we revise Exserohilum based on available ex-type cultures from worldwide collections, observation of the holotypes and/or protologues, and additional isolates from diverse substrates and geographical origins. Based on nine nuclear loci, i.e., ITS, LSU, act, tub2, cam, gapdh, his, tef1 and rpb2, as well as phenotypic data, the genus and species boundaries are assessed for Exserohilum. Novel Curvularia species from clinical specimens Naturalis

The fungal genus Curvularia includes numerous plant pathogens and some emerging opportunistic pathogens of humans. In a previous study we used morphology and sequences of the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) and the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (gpd) gene to identify species within a set of 99 clinical Curvularia isolates from the USA. Seventy-two isolates could be identified while the remaining 27 isolates belonged in three unclassified clades that were tentatively labelled Curvularia sp. I, II and III. Seleção de fungos endofíticos isolados do guaranazeiro com potencial para o controle biológico de Fusarium decemcellulare. Repositório Alice

O guaranazeiro (Paullinia cupana var. sorbilis) é cultivado na maioria dos estados da região Norte, destacando-se o Amazonas, e nos estados de Mato Grosso e da Bahia, o principal produtor. No Amazonas, entre as doenças que afetam o guaranazeiro, o superbrotamento (Fusarium decemcellulare) é uma das mais importantes. Diante disso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi selecionar fungos endofíticos do guaranazeiro com potencial para controlar o F. decemcellulare.
