Attractant-mediated behaviour of mobile stages of Heterodera schachtii IRD
Clemens, C.D.; Aumann,J.; Spiegel, Y.; Wyss, U..

Copper binding capacity of root exudates of cultivated plants and associated weeds Inra
Dousset, S.; Morel, J.L.; Jacobson, A.; Bitton, G..
Cu binding to root exudates of two cultivated plants, wheat (Triticum aestivum) and rape (Brassica napus), and two weeds associated with wheat, dog daisy (Matricaria inodora) and cornflower (Centaurea cyanus), was studied in vitro under hydroponic and sterile conditions. Nutrient solutions were prepared with or without P. A MetPLATE microbiological test was used to assess the metal complexing capacity of root exudates. In the P-deficient solutions, no exudation was observed for any of the four plants; consequently, no Cu binding occurred. When P was present in the nutrient solutions, the plant exudates displayed differing abilities to complex Cu. No difference was detected in the binding capacity of the dog daisy or cornflower, and the blank [heavy metal...

Maize root mucilage decreases adsorption of phosphate on goethite Inra
Grimal, J.Y.; Frossard, E.; Morel, J.L..
This work was carried out to determine the influence of root exudates on phosphorus solubility in the presence of a strong phosphate sorbant. Root mucilage was collected from maize grown under field conditions. Polygalacturonic acid (PGA) was also used as a model of exudates. Adsorption of phosphate by synthetic goethite was measured in the absence of either (1) root mucilage collected from maize in the field, or (2) PGA. The ranking order of the adsorption on goethite was phosphate at low concentration >PGA >mucilage >phosphate at high concentration. Then, competitive adsorption between phosphate ions and PGA or mucilage was studied. Increasing the concentration of PGA or mucilage added to the goethite suspension decreased the amount of phosphate...

Soluble proteins and polypeptides profiles of spores of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Interspecific variability and effects of host (myc+) and non-host (myc-) Pisum sativum root exudates (Scutellospora castanea) Inra
Samra, A.; Dumas-Gaudot, E.; Gianinazzi-Pearson, V.; Gianinazzi, S..

Stimulation of root exudation of rice seedlings by azospirillum strains : carbon budget under gnotobiotic conditions Inra
Heulin, T.; Guckert, A.; Balandreau, J..
The association of rice seedlings (cv. Delta) with different strains of Azospirillum was studied under monoxenic conditions in the dark. Axenic 3-day-old seedlings were obtained on a C- and N-free medium and inoculated with 6 · 107 bacteria per plant in a closed vial. Seven days later, different components of a carbon budget were evaluated on them and on sterile controls: respired CO2, carbon of shoot and roots, bacterial and soluble carbon in the medium. Two strains (A. lipoferum 4B and A. brasilense A95) isolated from the rhizosphere of rice caused an increase in exudation, + 36% and + 17% respectively compared with sterile control. Shoot carbon incorporation and respiration were reduced by inoculation. A third strain (A. brasilense R07) caused no...
