Última Approaches towards improvement of microbial strains used in solid state fermentation IRD Gunasekaran, P.; Augur, Christopher; Viniegra-Gonzalez, G.; Favela-Torres, E.. The low water activity, the complex nature of the support and/or substrate, the concentation of substrates used and products formed, and the heterogeneity within the system, influence the growth and physiology of the microbial strains used in solid state fermentation (SSF). As a result, the quality and quantity of the products formed from SSF processes significantly differ from those of submerged fermentation (SmF). Some strains that performed well in SmF processes do not perform efficiently in SSF process. Therefore, it is necessary to maximize the potential of the organism through genetic manipulation to suit the SSF process. Pre-germinated conidia of #Aspergillus niger$ were used as an inoculum and sugarcane bagasse, embedded with a nutritive solution, was the solid support. The solids residence time distribution (RTD) was carried out by feeding one impulse of blue-coloured humidified bagasse and this RTD was fixed at 20 hours. Pour cela, nous avons utilisé des ferments mixtes de bactéries lactiques et de champignons filamenteux cultivés en fermentation solide anaérobie ou aérobie. La pulpe de café est quantitativement et qualitativement le sous-produit le plus important du traitement par voie humide des cerises de café. Ce résidu humide et saisonnier engendre de sérieux problèmes de pollution qu'il serait possible de résoudre en le stabilisant par ensilage.
