Considering the importance of monitoring the water quality parameters, remote sensing is a practicable alternative to limnological variables detection, which interacts with electromagnetic radiation, called optically active components (OAC). Among these, the phytoplankton pigment chlorophyll a is the most representative pigment of photosynthetic activity in all classes of algae. A simple system was used to simulate the effect of alternating toxic (paralytic shellfish poisoning toxins) and non-toxic microalgal diets on oyster feeding behaviors and rates of toxin accumulation. These experimental conditions were meant to reflect, to some extent, the incoming and outgoing fluxes of toxic algae observed at the mouth of the Penze estuary (Northern Brittany, France). The bay of Somme is the first French field of cockles (Cerastoderma edule) with a production amounting to 3000 tons per year on average. In order to improve the stock management, it is necessary to increase our knowledge of this species. This study is looking at the growth of the common cockle. First, was carried out a morphometric analysis of the two left and right valves, which has revealed a perfect symmetry of the shell and has allowed us to establish strong correlations among the morphometric parameters. Then, a chemical marking study has been realized with calcein and manganese in order to obtain the exact growth. Development of a coastal upwelling front driven by advection and topographic effects in the North Sea-Baltic Sea transition ArchiMer

Upwelling of cold. saline, and nutrient rich water was observed in late September 1999 along an east-west transect in the SW Kattegat. The Kattegat forms part of the transitional zone between the high saline North Sea and the low saline Baltic Sea. The upwelling occurred after an extended period of northward flow and eastern winds in the Kattegat, that changed into a southward flow as wind ceased. The upwelling was the result of a combination of high current speeds and bottom topography whereby the high-speed inflow water was forced towards the surface at the slope. ABSTRACT The effect of pressure on the fluorescence of tryptophan in the presence of metal ions was studied by fluorescence spectrometry. It was found that at 60 MPa, the fluorescence intensity of M/Trp mixtures (M represented metal ions) increased compared to that at atmosphere pressure. The relative fluorescence efficiency of M/Trp mixtures increased with pressure. When the M/Trp ratio was above 10:1, the relative fluorescence efficiency in decreasing order was Cu2+/Trp mixtures, Ni2+/Trp mixtures and Mg2+ (K+)/Trp mixtures. When the ratio was below 10:1, the decreasing order was Cu2+/Trp mixtures and Ni2+ (Mg2+, K+)/Trp mixtures. The relative fluorescence efficiency increased with the concentration of Cu2+ and Ni2+. Experiments were performed to examine the effect of salt stress and GA3-priming on initial growth of two rapeseed cultivars, one tolerant and one sensitive to salt stress during germination. Seedlings from seeds germinated in salty (as NaCl) and non salty substrate were grown in salty and non salty hydroponics. Salt stress reduced seedling growth of the two genotypes consistently with their degree of stress tolerance during germination. Seedlings from stress sensitive seeds germinated under high salinity showed a rapid recover of growth in non stressing conditions. Spathiphyllum spp. es conocida comúnmente como cuna de moisés, se utiliza como planta ornamental, presenta una hoja modificada (espata), de color blanco, y conforme madura enverdece. Este fenómeno típico de algunas Aráceas es poco conocido. En el presente trabajo se analizaron algunos parámetros que intervienen en el enverdecimiento. Para clasificar el enverdecimiento la clorofila se midió con un medidor portátil (SPAD-meter 50), se delimitaron tres etapas en unidades relativas “SPAD”; E1 con 5 a 10, E2 de 15 a 20 y E3 de 25 a 30, como referencia se usaron espatas blancas (B) y hojas del follaje (V) con un rango de 35 a 46 unidades relativas. We introduce a new, high quality, low cost and versatile LEDs-based handset device that emits high power UV and white light, which can be used interchangeably. It offers power control and has long battery life. Even though it is optimized to detect and collect scorpions under low light conditions, it can also be used with other groups of fluorescent organisms. The device achieved superior performance in field and laboratory trials when compared with a 12 LEDs low power UV flashlight, and a 46 W black fluorescent light lamp, to locate Tityus serrulatus Lutz & Mello, 1922.

Compreender os processos de estabilização do carbono no solo pode ser muito útil no desenvolvimento de técnicas de mitigação das emissões de CO2 e do aquecimento global. Quanto maior a hidrofobicidade da matéria orgânica do solo, mais estabilizado é o carbono do solo.
