In order to evaluate the efficiency of biobeds on DTC degradation, the aim of this study was to apply, optimize and validate a method to determine dithiocarbamate (mancozeb) in biobeds using gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The DTC pesticide mancozeb was hydrolysed in a tin (II) chloride solution at 1.5% in HCl (4 mol L−1 ), during 1 h in a water bath at 80 °C, and the CS2 formed was extracted in isooctane. After cooling, 1 mL of the organic layer was transferred to an auto sampler vial and analyzed by GC-MS. Since the middle of the XIX century, when dammar became popular in Occident, this natural resin is one of the most used in art painting techniques as final protective coating (varnish) as well as a component of pictorial media. The extensive use of chlorotriazines as selective herbicides in agriculture and their relatively high persistence imply that these compounds are now present in the environment, contaminating surface and groundwater. In European countries, United States and Canada, the drinking water ordinance demands a limited concentration of 0.5 ug/l for the sum of all pesticides and 0.1 ug/l with respect to each compound, with the consequent need for sensitive and selective analytical methods. Substituted phenylureas are selective herbicides used extensively in agriculture and are fairly persistent in the aquatic environment. This has led to the development of many analytical procedures based on high performance liquid cromatography or gas chromatography for determining phenylurea residues in aqueous samples. El propósito de este estudio fue evaluar la actividad antagonista de dos cepas de hongos endofíticos, Pseudocercospora kaki y Penicillium sclerotiorum, aislados de las hojas de Camellia sinensis, en relación al patógeno del tizón del arroz Magnaporthe grisea. La actividad inhibitoria de las dos cepas endófitas sobre M. grisea en cultivo dual se comparó con aquella en monocultivo. Se confirmó que el caldo y su extracto de etil acetato del cultivo dual tuvieron una actividad mucho más inhibitoria sobre M. grisea que los monocultivos de P. kaki y P. sclerotiorum. Identification of pheromone synergists in american palm weevil, Rhynchophorus palmarum, and attraction of related dynamis borassi Inra

Thirteen host-plant kairomone blends, including 28 compounds, were tested and showed moderate to high synergy with rhynchophorol. The blends plus rhynchophorol also attracted the related Dynamis borassi. Ethanol–ethyl acetate blends in various ratios showed moderate synergy. Two blends, including "characteristic coconut" odor molecules, were as efficient as sugarcane in synergizing rhynchophorol and field luring American Palm weevils (APWs). The chemical composition of East European (Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania) oaks was investigated profoundly for the first time in the present study and compared with American and French counterparts. Taking into account the high natural variability of oak extractives contents, the wide-ranging sampling was performed for all oak origins: 276 French oaks, 102 East European oaks of both species (Quercus robur L. and Quercus petraea Liebl.), and 56 American oaks (Quercus alba). Olive oil consists mainly of triglycerides, in about 97 to 99% by weight. The minor compounds are a complex mixture of polar, apolar and amphiphilic substances, such as tocopherols, phenolic compounds, sterols, chlorophyll, carotenoids, terpene acids, monoglycerides and diglycerides, free fatty acids and volatile compounds. These volatiles are the compounds directly responsible for the aroma of the oil. Supercritical fluid CO2 extraction of essential oil from Marchantia convoluta: global yields and extract chemical composition Electron. J. Biotechnol.

The essential oil of Marchantia convoluta was obtained by supercritical (carbon dioxide) extraction using methanol as a modifier. Global yields were determined according to the orthogonal design. The effects of different parameters, such as pressure, temperature, modifier volume and extraction time, on the supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of essential oil from M. convoluta were investigated. Variability in pheromone communication among different haplotype populations of Busseola fusca Inra

The relationship between pheromone composition and mitochondrial haplotype clades was investigated by coupling DNA analyses with pheromone identification and male mate searching behavior among different geographic populations of Busseola fusca. The within-population variations in pheromone blend were as great as those observed between geographic populations, suggesting that the female sex pheromone blend was not the basis of reproductive isolation between the geographic clades. São Francisco Valley (SFV) is located in Northeastern Brazil, in a tropical semi-arid region where one vine can produce two harvests per year, due to high temperatures, solar radiation rates, and irrigation throughout the year. This is the main characteristic iffering this from other winegrowing region in the world. The objective of this study was to characterize volatile profiles of sparkling wines produced by the traditional method, using Chenin Blanc and Syrah grapes, the two main varieties used for white and red wines, respectively, grown in the region.
